The British finally decided to follow Colonial America's example.

From what I've read, it's a combo of some guy getting shot by the police in a ethnic area and the cuts to the government benifits. Though I could be wrong and folks just decided to get crazy.

It is a plot by Manx terrorists to corner the treacle market in Great Britain. A few kegs of sliked beer, a fee words into the ears of drunk young idiots, and boom, you have a riot that will distract from you looting the treacle warehouses.

Really.

Okay, nit true. Go read the earlier comments.

Death of one guy.
Ill educated prospect free underclass.
Society that glamorises money and stuff.
Organised criminal fagins running the activity.
Mass media broadcast of whats going on, letting folks country wide realise they can overwhelm the police.
Thieving, illiterate, self centred, uncaring little shits, with no ability to relate.
Police who have been beaten back by cuts, and some serious overpolicing (Deaths of innocents) meaning they're afraid to actually engage for fear of making things worse.

Some of them are literally burning down the shops of their peers, in their local areas, because these people, running tiny barber shops or bakeries are 'rich innit' because they have a rented shop and work.

They're not even informed enough to understand who the elite are they should be envious of.

Its tragic.

The police seem to have been given a green light for gloves off now. No idea where that will end.

You live in the Wild West Mus, that's the uncivilized attitude they would expect from you. Except for the ones who still wish they had guns.

Rain in manchester, huge police presence and the promise of eviction for state housing residents involved in the riots seems to be calming things

Maybe this will smack the veneer of civility and safety hard enough for the UK to wake up and demand its right of self defense back.

I doubt it - 50 years as a bunch of pansies is tough to shake off.

Cause being homeless will make them settle down.

That shows that someone doesn't understand their mentality.

THEY DESERVE IT. THEY ARE OWED IT. YOU ARE TAKING AWAY WHAT IS THEIRS AND THEY WILL FIGHT YOU FOR THAT DISRESPECT!

Perhaps. I think you miss two dynamics; very very few firearms offenses occurred in the riots, which meant the police got things under control without having to call in the army. I am sure that with more prevelant gun availability we'd have seen more deaths; this wasn't rioting by just hardcore criminals - the critical mass seems to have been supplied by bored teens wanting toys and to smash things up.

Given that factor, providing the threat, and examples of the realisation of, actual long term consequence to their actions is removing that internet-tough-guy feeling of being invulnerable because you're part of a crowd.

Anyway, I dont want to get into a debate on gun control with you all - I know we've had those in hellfire, but just checking in to say things seem to be under control, and we're all good here. Thanks for caring and good luck to you and yours ;-p

In other words, there will be a price for the lawlessness some call civil disobedience.

We disagree about the consequences that more access would show - I'll point to the LA riots for now.

Glad your safe but I think your nation is in for more of these not less.
