3rd party widgets from sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus One, Disqus, etc. can slow down page load times when browsing on other sites that include them. WidgetBlock disables a number of widely installed 3rd party widgets so that your pages load faster. It includes options to choose the Widgets you'd like to disable. For a full list of the Widgets blocked please see the options page.

My internets are so much faster now. Its almost unbelievable.

A widget to disable widgets? Why not just uninstall the ones you don't want?

It disables the twitter and FB buttons on goddamned every site nowadays, so they don't waste intertube time loading.

Chrome and Malware Bytes both pitched a fit when I clicked the install button; Trend blocked it.

No thanks. The speedup is probably a placebo.

It's a good plugin, but I wouldn't leave it at the default settings. At the very least you should enable connections to js-kit.com, typekit.com and google-analytics.com.

I'm sorry, you can turn off js-kit. Disregard that part.

Typekit and GA are useful, though. The former has a direct effect on the design and functionality of your website (fonts). The latter is just awesome all around for usability analytics and it would hurt my soul if you took it away. Besides, GA requires being loaded at the bottom of your document, so it doesn't block the rendering of any other elements before it kicks in.

What are usability analytics? How do they help me?

They don't. Or, to be more fair, they might, indirectly. They help the administrator of the website gather statistics about their visitors. Lenas is a web designer.

You're actively ruining part of my life with zero benefit to yourself :( Analytics help us make the internets better!

Running more Javascript to disable Javascript seems kind of dumb to me... especially since there are no guarantees that one loads before the other. Also like Lenas said it might be valuable for you to have some of them working.
