stupidity on both sides

what most people know about is the police brutally subduing Rodney King after a high speed pursuit. after that was the shady trial, then the brutal beating of a hispanic immigrant by a mob of black neighborhood residents. and then the looting started the next day

what isn't really mentioned very often is how the local korean community came together and formed their own little militia to protect their businesses when the looting started and the police refused to intervene. the looters severely underestimated the tenacity of the korean community and i don't think they took into account how it was mandatory for koreans to enter military service for a few years after high school... so it was a somewhat organized and armed (though mostly pistols, from what I heard) resistance against a mob of looters for a few days, too

Bale hit it regarding the armed Korean merchants in those communities holding off against mostly unarmed looters and rioters.

Interestingly the turks, sikhs, and other tight knit immigrant communities here did the same thing - but with baseball bats etc. It was more the fact there were coordinated folks willing to resist, rather than their armaments, that led the 'FREE STUFF' looters to move elsewhere.

My point was looters aren't usually armed with firearms where firearms are available and it takes less people with firearms to project the same amount of force to a crowd compared to people armed with bats.
