When the news of Cataclysm and its game changes broke, Phe was excited about Worgen and the newly-opened race/class combinations. But it still didn't offer her what she's wanted for so long...a Gnome Hunter. I mentioned this on the board, and some of the quick, terse responses made her ask what people had against Gnome Hunters.

I explained that it originated back in EverQuest, and the latter-day inclusion of Halflings as Rangers, which made many of the older players view them with disdain, that Halflings weren't good enough to be Rangers...a sort of MMO racism, as it were.

Phe, still displeased, has made it a goal in life to see Gnomes with the ability to become Hunters. To those ends, her plan is simple: inundate the opposition with cute.

Isn't that Phe's plan for everything?

That said, I guess since it works, don't fix it... :P

Because gnome hunters don't make sense.

They really don't. They're not into nature, I don't recall an instance of a gnome hunter in the lore (lollore)...

That being said... Undead hunters? Sure, why *not* gnomes?

Well...undead hunter makes a lot more sense than a gnome hunter. Since some humans were hunters, it makes sense that the undead would go back to doing what they were good at in life. Human hunters should have been an option from the very start.

I agree. Human hunters make sense. Humans should be able to be *anything*.

But undead... they're corpses. Why would any animal hang out with something unnatural and evi... misunderstood?

Take a plague bear or boar. Or, they might change their pets into undead when they get them. Or something. I don't know. Maybe their old pets come back and recognize their master and it just so happens the first one you try to tame is that pet? Stranger things have been used to explain how stuff works in that game.

I'll support the gnome hunter movement if she supports the Gnome Paladin movement.

But undead hunters make sense, if the character was a hunter before they died. Why wouldn't they do the same thing in death that they did in life? Not all undead become DK's.

I think Blizzard has shown over the years that pissing all over lore and racial-logic is something that they have no problem doing.

Bring on the gnome hunters. I'll never play one. But hey, if you're going to purposefully create a clusterf*** you might as well create the biggest one you can. So include it all!

I have always wanted gnome hunters. :)

I'll settle for a goblin hunter.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Dark_ranger

http://classic.battle.net/war3/neutral/ ... ml?rhtml=y

When Sylvanas Windrunner, Banshee Queen of the Forsaken, regained her physical body, she realized that the natural world would never respond to her wishes again. Angered by this development, she turned to the arts that were becoming more and more natural to her: Necromancy. She altered her elven ranger teachings into a new form. Thus, the dark rangers were born. When the Lich King's power began to wane, his mental domination was weakened, and many of his undead became free of will again. Many undead elves including the dark ranger Sylvanas, found themselves free of will, and Sylvanas rebelled against Arthas, turning her banshees against their former king. After gaining control of the Tirisfal Glades, Sylvanas proclaimed herself Queen of the Banshees and leader of the Forsaken (the free-willed undead).
Many dark rangers are former banshees. The difference is dark rangers have regained their physical bodies, thus possessing greater powers.

...

There has been only one recording of a human ranger and subsequent dark ranger. Nathanos Blightcaller's resurrection as one of the Forsaken and service to the Dark Lady has earned him the rank of Champion of the Banshee Queen. He resides at Marris Stead in the Eastern Plaguelands.

Basically, human rangers consist of 1 - Nathanos Blightcaller.

Undead rangers are a class unto themselves.

Gnome ranged classes are more arcane or the chopper guys.

Personally, I think at this point the game has come to, they should just open up any and all Race / Class combos. All semblence of lore-restrictions have pretty much left the building.

Gnomes should be able to be anything they want. They're that cool.

BTW, I love the drawings.

I'd support that only if they turned into:

Stuffed Teddy Bears
Kittens
Bonsai Trees
Picachus
