Saw this trailer at the lead of X-Men: First Class and was reasonably hopeful.

As cliche as the original has become, it was profound in its day. There is a reason there these classic lines from it.

The sequels were actually suprisingly good though suffered from massive buget cutbacks that impacted the qualities of the films particularly the costuming/makeup departments. But at the time they actually provided some very important social commentary.

Granted the Mark Wahlberg version should never been made.

Looking forward to the new version of Ceasar.

I just remember being extremely disappointed about a minute into it when it became clear that this was NOT, in fact, going to be a zombie movie.

Don't they already have two planet of the apes movies? Is it going to be the same story again?

I preferred it when the title was "Rise of the Apes."

Seriously, though, I'll see it, but I'm really not a fan of the series as a whole. The seminal twist that has become so ingrained in our culture wasn't even the best in a Charlton Heston film (Soylent Green, anyone?). And James Franco? I admire the guy, going to college to be a doctor/English major/superhero on top of his acting/writing/directing career, but I don't think he's actually slept since 2004.

True, but then who would win the Oscar for "Movie with the most 'Of The's in the title"?

Oh, so that's what that movie is? I've been seeing this trailer at the front of some youtube videos for the past 2 weeks, but it has an option to skip after 5 seconds. I always skipped it because it honestly looked like one of those bleeding heart "think of the animals" movies. It seems kinda...silly. But I guess that should be a given what with it being a Planet of the Apes movie.

You know, if someone took a Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercial and then spliced it with this, it'd be an effective campaign.

Oh my god, it's the Sarah McLachlan commercial about the crack babies! It's like the saddest thing ever!

Just saw this movie, and it was surprisingly VERY good! Definitely gets a recommendation.

I enjoyed it. My only problem with the movie is it's not exactly clear which side you should be rooting for. Ultimately, I hated being on the fence and began rooting for the apes.

They very much set this movie up for a sequel (with two separate plot points, one obvious and one far less obvious). Whether or not that happens, we'll see. I'd definitely be interested in watching a sequel.

Spoiler:
The obvious sequel set up is the virus that is spreading and killing off mankind, depicted as it goes around the world during the end credits.

The less obvious is the forgettable tv news spot about a manned mission to Mars taking place. Very much opens up humans coming back to a planet full of apes with no humans, or even wormhole/time travelling possibilities.

I really liked this movie. One of the better movies so far this year. I also think that the trailer for the movie didn't do it justice. It made it look like a straight action flick, when it was really much more than that.

If you ever root for the apes, then this movie fails and it seems like my initial feelings upon viewing the trailer are true.

What are you talking about? The first series has a very heavy emphasis on how bad humans treated the apes.

Please, no. My love of Bill and Ted aside, time travel is generally the stupidest plot device you can possibly use.

It sounds like a long PETA commercial.

The movie was good. I loved it. My daughter cried she was so in love with the Apes.

Well, at least one person has learned the Claremont Lesson.
