Pretty entertaining, had almost nothing to do with the established Conan lore. Also, seeing Conan speak English with no accent was kind of disconcerting.

Kind of like a 2 hour hercules: the legendary journeys.

It's really good. 3.5-4 out of 5.

He's a better Conan than Arnold.

Ron Perlman is fantastic as Corin.

Lots of callbacks to the origin story in the final battle, which you can judge from your own preference.

Local reviewer said it was great up until Conan meets his love interest. After that, not so much. Thoughts from those who have seen it?

Your the first person I've heard say anything good about this movie.

I would expect this out of pretty much anyone. Arnold had the physique, and that's about it.

My wife still wants to see this one pretty badly, so I am sure I will check it out soon. My expectations are: If there are swords and people being cut by swords, then I'll be entertained.

Loved it. Thought Jason Momoa did a fantastic job as Conan. No gimmicks, or anything, just straight up barbarian *** kicking. And blood. Lots and lots of blood.

And young Conan is the **** man! He is now my hero.

This is a good read by Conan's "script doctor" and how he is reacting to the box office #'s.

Not bad, here was my only problem with the film:

" I know that those who have read my Conan shooting script agree that much of the work I did on story and character never made it to screen."

I felt like it was a pretty good film, but the Conan mythos is pretty deep, and the story and character just kind of got lost. Honestly, the movie was much more focused on the villans quest for his prize than Conan himself. This is a niche character, and in trying to mainstream it they lost the conan fans and the mainstream at the same time. Maybe it'll make some money on DVD.

It's not bad, but you could wait for the DVD release. He makes a more interesting Conan than Arnold. This Conan has more personality, coming off as more roguish. The characters aren't that interesting, and like Dark said, you get more villian focus than Conan himself.

I didn't feel the scenes followed along particularly well. From one to the next there was little reason for them, just as there was little reason for some of the characters to have the supportive stance for Conan that they did. I was really hoping I'd love the film, but would have been happier waiting for DVD tbh.

On another semi-related note, to celebrate Age of Conan's Free to Play model, and the release of the new Conan movie, Funcom is launching the Savage Coast of Turan expansion. In addition to new content, if you purchase certain versions of the expansion, you get new "Vanity" armor (wardrobe armor that changes your appearance, but doesn't affect your stats) based on the Conan movie armor/outfit.

The expansion launches on the 8th, but purchasers of the special editions can get early access, starting today.

Just thought I'd throw this out there, in case anyone was interested. The movie actually made me start playing the game again. I forgot how nice the animated fatalities are in this game.

Went to see this again tonite, as it will not be showing at this theater anymore after today. I enjoyed it even more the second time around. Caught a couple of things I missed the first time. Jason Momoa certainly embodies the barbarian character well.

The movie itself is still pretty good, IMHO, but it does have it's problems. One of the main problems, I thought, was that the editing of the combat scenes makes them very hard to follow. It's not as bad as shaky cam, but some of the timing of the cuts and angles of the scenes makes things harder to follow than it should be. You still get the basic idea of what is going on, but things could have been a lot clearer if they zoomed out a bit, choose a different camera angle, or didn't cut away to another shot so quickly. Also, according to an interview with Momoa, he says there is a fight with the slavers, where he kills like 15 or 16 guys in one continuous shot, but that it didn't make it into the final film. I can only hope that this makes it to the Blu-ray/DVD release, haha.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, and I'll be picking it up on Blu-ray when it comes out, for sure.
