Quote:
A new poll by CNN and ORC International finds that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see their party nominate a candidate other than Barack Obama for president in 2012.

In response to the question, "Do you think the Democratic party should renominate Barack Obama as the party's candidate for president in 2012, or do you think the Democratic party should nominate a different candidate for president in 2012?" -- 72 percent said they wanted to see Obama renominated. But 27 percent, slightly more than one in every four, said they wanted to see Democrats nominate a different candidate. One percent had no opinion.

The poll was taken August 24-25. In a survey taken in early August, 28 percent of Democrats said they wanted a different candidate. Polls taken in July and before showed Obama in a stronger position, with no more than 22 percent saying they preferred a different candidate. The current poll is based on interviews with 463 Democrats and has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

The new poll is another indication of Democratic unhappiness with the president, but it does not mean Obama will face a challenge in his party's primaries. Despite the complaints of a few liberals like Sen. Bernard Sanders, the odds of a Democrat opposing the president appear to be something less than zero. But the new poll is still a matter of concern to Democrats, because it is yet another indication that there is significant disillusionment with the president within his own party. Whether those disaffected Democrats will come around to supporting Obama next year is an open question -- and perhaps the most worrying of the president's re-election bid.

You know, the fact that you're harping on what you perceive is people 'playing the race card' makes me suspect you actually are racist. While I quite agree that it is possible to dislike or even hate the president (or any other individual of some other ethnicity) without being racist, the fact is you're the one bringing race up, trying to shove it in people's faces.

What's that phrase about hoists and petards?

You might be a racist if...
Ahh, I see, you're racist if you call other people on using the race card.

You're racist if you bring up the subject of race.

Hopwin, it's all clear to me now, you racist.

It's only logical that, by extension, if you call other people racist for bringing up the issue of race, or the use of the race card, you're a suspected racist.

I didn't read the article but I'm sure the title is an accurate, even conservative estimate.

Race is inaccurate, we're different species, not different races.

You and a frog might be different species but unless you're talking as Yoda you are the same species as every other homo sapiens.

I'm not surprised. I hope the republicans don't take this to mean that we have to "settle" for someone light like Newt or Romney in order to pick up these voters. I disagree I think the sky is the limit more than it has been in a long time.

Has a sitting President ever been successfully primaried? I think it would do the country some good, not just getting rid of Obama but making future Presidents think about their decisions more if they felt less secure in their jobs.

I think Howard Dean or Hillary (*shudder*) might have a decent chance of pulling it off if they were so inclined. Seriously if Dean came out, denouncing class warfare and started talking about balanced budgets and "True bipartisian Health Care Reform" he could go all the way.

Most Democrats are upset with Obama because he's not liberal enough, not because he's too liberal...

In other news, the whole "racist" meme is really getting long in the tooth here.

Sure is. However it seems to be the liberal mantra for several people.

With the exception of TheRiov, the only people I see that post it are the conservative crowd here.

I wasn't talking about Glade posters, sorry. There are lots of people in the public eye who espouse that everyone who disagrees with Obama is does so on skin color. I could find some clips if you need them, but they aren't that hard to find.

Our President, while I don't think he believes its true, doesn't seem above allowing it to happen for his gain either.

Of course you only see people against whom the race card is being used as a political weapon commenting on it here. Here is a reflection of the rest of the world. This place doesn't exist in a vacuum. In the rest of the world, the race card is played plenty.

edit: Man, I'm slow. Rori 'splained it.

Afraid I still don't see it much in the real world either. There are the usual suspect that always throw the race card around, but frankly I don't pay attention to them, as it's the whole boy who cried wolf thing.

And Vindi, I don't find the Glade to be a very accurate mirror to the real world. The Glade is far more libertarian and conservative on most topics.

http://bigjournalism.com/dloesch/2011/0 ... ore-216044 a racism charge by liberals.

http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/28/gore- ... s-racists/ Also a racist for not believing in Human global warming.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/wat ... re-not-us/ Examples of being called a racist for various reasons.

Google up a few. Liberals scream racist all the time, it's like being mad a bee for stinging, it's their only defense mechanism.

Fact remains though that they are out there, and our President, despite post racial promises to the contrary, doesn't denounce them.

Please. If you're going to define a 'side' by the beliefs of a few radicals, we might as well characterize all conservatives by some of their more idiotic proponents. Perhaps we should take Ann Coulter as 'conservatives'

Each side has their crackpots.

Why would he ever denounce them? The media get to do the Hatchet job so he can stay above it. Such useful idiots.

Plainly not all. I wonder how much kool-aid it takes to wash some of it down. I think the best example of racial double standards in the media would be the recent black on white mob violence, particularly flash mobs. If random gangs of whites had been attacking blacks it would be a national story drummed up.

This is the problem. You're painting all liberals with the same brush. (and making a ridiculous, unsupportable statement about 30-50% of the population. )
