Well if the majority of attendees of a public school attend a synagogue, and read from the Torah, keep kosher, does that does that make their school a Jewish school?

Just because the majority acts one way does NOT mean that the entity itself is a defined by them.

The entity itself has a structure--in this case a constitution, that defines it, not because a large number of elected officials happen to fall into on particular demographic.

I think I know why you're so confused...

Nations are made up of people, and people make up the government. Pointing out how people's religious beliefs influence government is a perfect example of a nations religious beliefs, but insular policies of a government with regard to a nations religious convictions doesn't equal a secular nation.

I never meant you to think I was asserting that the US government was Christian, I asserted that the nation is...and the government is NOT the nation.

Then why cite the oath of office, what is stamped at currency or national motto as evidence?

Because those things are symbols of what is influential or "sacred" to the people who initiated and perpetuate those institutions. In this case, the people of the United States initiated and perpetuate Christian symbolism in their most "sacred" symbols. They are examples of the whole, not the whole in and of themselves.
