If it is the movie I'm thinking about, it is more about boxing being inhumane, banned and the sport executives replacing men with robots to keep the money rolling in. The movie takes places after the ban, and one of the displaced boxers is the hero of the piece, training a robot to fight like him.

As far as it goes, it resembles the Rock''em Sock'em robots only in that you have players boxing with robot surrogates, but yes, the comparison was inevitable.

There have been stupider movies made. I doubt this will inspire a new run of Rock'em Sock'em robot games.

Nah, that's the one they're referencing. Looks like it was pretty expensive to make, too!

The only thing I can think of from the preview is the Rock'em, Sock'em robots, heck I think one is blue and the other robot is red. This combined with battleship the movie taking the money from "In the Mountains of Madness" is what aggravates me.

No one would care about MoM except nerds. They mostly make movies they think people will go see.

So can we please no one see this, and have it fail miserably?

But what if it's actually a good movie? Honestly, you going to boycott a movie for no other reason than it has boxing robots?

I don't have to see every film based on some half-struck idea of 'fairness,' nor do I feel a film about boxing robots is worth my time (the trailer supporting my immediate conclusion).

Yes, I would like to see it fail, because it looks stupid. Correspondingly, I would like to see Battleship fail for the same reason, plus the fact that Universal sunk $200 million into it as opposed to co-financing AtMoM.

Didn't say you have to go see it, I'm just suggesting that there's a pretty big gap between "I don't want to see that movie" and "I think that movie should be widely boycotted".

And I didn't say that. There's a pretty big gap between "hey, if you think this movie is stupid, as we all who have chimed in seem to, don't waste your time or money as we so often do due to nostalgia" and "I WILL ORGANIZE A MILITANT BOYCOTT AND NO ONE SHOULD EVER SEE THIS FILM UNDER PAIN OF DEATH."

Yeah, actually, it didn't look horrific, from the previews.

As someone who is old enough to have owned an original Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em (but didn't), that didn't come to mind at all while watching the previews. Not that they didn't get the idea there, I suppose, but it didn't scream "1960s toy movie" to me.

Ok, the russian trailer was nice (and was the entire film, essentially), but the google translated youtube comments are amazing.

Dubbed the movie trailer "Living Steel" in HD 1080p. Events of the film occur in the future, where boxing is forbidden for inhumane and replaced by 2000-pound fighting robots controlled by humans. A former boxer and now a promoter in peremetnuvshiysya Roboboks decides that finally found its champion when it comes culled, but a very capable robot. At the same time on life's journey of the hero appears 16-year-old boy, are its prodigal son. And as the car breaks its way to the top, who found each other, father and son learn to be friends.

"Excellent in my opinion the film will be released!"

"I do not like movies about robots, but this film somehow caught the music at the end of the trailer ****."

"The whole idea for the film more or less adequate. But according to some men, this film is supposedly creating, and almost all the action-scenes are shown in the trailer, but the whole film is not primarily about the ruthless humanoid zhYlezyakah, and the son and father, and difficult family relations, broken by the boxer and the possibility of karere all catch up coaching robots etc with all the ...

Do you want to - believe it or - no. Personally, I think, it's impudent chatter. This film deserves nashogo attention. :)"

"obviously inspired by the creators of a series of transmission Prototype This"

Same here. Looks like a good movie. Would love to see it myself.
