I expect medical technology to advance pretty quickly in the next few decades, and life expectancy will increase quite a bit. I could be wrong, of course, but I'd bet on this happening.

Your betting on unspecified "medical advances" in a vaguely-defined timeframe is hardly convincing.

Plus I suspect any medical advances would either be considered elective (e.g. cryogenics, cyborg technology) or have a long waiting list (e.g. whole body organ transplants). Either way to get it before you die, you either have to be rich, famous, or worth something to the entire human race.

Since patents are usually 20 years for medicinal technology or products, you’ll be a min 40+ before any generic companies even have had a chance to look at it, and possibly 50+ before price competition even pushes it into a viable band. That’s IF they discover this technology tomorrow.

If I want to be alive forever, I want to do it while I’m still young. If I’m 90 when they discover the fountain of eternal life, I’d say turn my respirator off and just let me die already.

People don't have to be rich or famous to get the latest technology in anything. It won't be any different for medical technology.

I suspect anything that could extend your life would be worth something closer to going on space flights, only more desirable to the average human being. Space tourism has been available since 2001, and has not yet become any cheaper due to the technological advancements…

Let me know when space flights become affordable to you, and that should be an approximate time frame as to when you’ll be able to afford serious life extending operations.

It takes an insane amount of energy to burn to get into space. It will be limited by that for a very long time. It's different than medicine that can be mass produced. Also it requires coordination with the government and a very large amount of people involved just monitoring a single flight (like having 100 technicians focused only on you). Skilled human labor will never be cheap.

I assume you have a cell phone or computer? It's the same technology that the rich people use, just like they get mostly the same healthcare (except with better doctors).

I always thought it was to do **** I didn't have time to do myself. I guess the old adage still holds: If you want something done right...
