MY wife and I were engaged less than a year after we met, and married about another year after that. Neither of us was exactly a perfect angel before we met, though.

Anyhow, let's see more people's lists!

There's no cynicism or pessimism in my posts; I'm commenting on a reality that offends most people in the United States inclined to talk about marriages.

We can broaden this discussion, too; because other, less consumerist societies on this planet have entirely different value sets for marriage than we do.

By the by, the happiest married couple I know met each other for the first time 3 days before their wedding ... which was planned on her fifth birthday.
