Should we start adding all the lovely protest signs recently, or perhaps some more wisdom from the CBC?

Really Fester, both sides have easy pot shots to take, mindless drones that will repeat the other side's dogma. endlessly, without coherent thought. Taking these easy pot shots is a sign of fanaticism, doing what the extremists want you to do. This isn't football or any other professional sport, it is politics. It could effect people's lives in a very bad way. Well, it already does. Bringing out this detritus on the heels of the Republican icon of Wall Street having a horrible week is like something out of a war movie parody. Gonna stand out in the middle of the street yelling and shooting off the endless clip until one of the dying donkeys gets off a lucky shot.

Yeah, good luck with that.

I've only read the first article so far, but I think she has a very valid point about the American Dream....it used to be applauded to go from poverty to riches. Now, not so much...

After what we saw through the Bush years and beyond it would take too long to catalog all the "what's wrong with the liberal base" thing.

I do believe in political Bushido, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't bring to attention the kind of thoughts being expressed in these articles. You know, Our President does want us to watch our tone.

The first of those links was horrible. What an idiotic thing to say.

The second...well, it was obviously tongue in cheek, but yeah. Cheap shot, and without any basis.

The third, I don't see the controversy. Of course, I have no idea who Rick Perry is, nor do I get the joke about "if he was black, Sarah Palin would **** him." The joke may be funny, but the punchline is lost on me. Still, Maher's usually pretty good. Religulous was very entertaining. I don't agree with all Maher's views, but then, I don't agree with all of many people's views. He is, at least, moderately economically conservative and socially liberal, which is my general place on the political compass, though i'm further to the economic right than he is.

Edit: Okay, I looked up the "horrified she **** a black man" scandal. That makes Maher's comment funny. I still haven't bothered looking up who Rick Perry is.

He was my governor when I was in texas. He loves to pretend to be conservative when he runs for office.

Perry is the next man to not be elected to the office of POTUS.

There is a new smear book out on Palin by the guy who rented a house right next door to her. A lot of baseless allegations including that Palin wanted to sleep with this black sports figure were made in it. The quotes I've seen from it are really disgusting. Thats where I think Maher is getting it. I figure this book will be a source for many liberal memes for the next year.

More of that new tone from the left.

What makes the allegations "baseless?" Is it hearsay? (Not that hearsay is baseless, just inadmissible in court, which this is not.) Or did the author claim overhear her say something along these lines themselves? (Which isn't baseless, it just boils down to credibility. Which neither of them have...Palin's a politician, therefore she's probably lying with any given utterance she makes. But this person is profiting from a scandalous book, so there's good odds they are also lying.)

If there were any real matter of fact to dispute, they'd have equal credibility. In this case, however, it's not merely a matter of not being in court but also of the author having an opportunity for personal gain. Unless he's got more than just "I overheard her make some scandalous comment that mysteriously plays right to her detractors' imaginings which she for no apparent reason said right where I could overhear her" it should be rejected as baseless, not just because he makes money off it in and of itself but because treating it with any credibility encourages other profiteers to simply make up allegations of things they observed or heard their target say. Even if he did hear her say it, without more evidence it's just nonsense mucking up the already-appalling political landscape and encouraging more of the same.

Don't think so. The writing style doesn't fit, and I can't think of any reason DFK! would use Pennsylvania in his handle.

He's been absent since he got a new job that doesn't permit him Glading time. Couple that with weird hours, and you get his absence.

From what bits of the book I have read and have seen commented on a little of everything. My opinion is that the author wanted to write a book that would appeal to those with Palin Derangement Syndrome so he just flung as much poo at the wall as he could to attract as many flies as possible. This type of book is really just too far.

Remeber when Palin left her office in Alaska, citing that all the attention was affecting her family? Oh, she had a TV show? Oh, she reapeared in politics? What a lying stupid *****. Her popularity boggles my mind.

From the "Occupy Wall Street" protests we get this drama:

This individual is rather upset that Chase Bank took his parents home. But of course that's not the whole story:

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2011/09/26 ... ver-spoon/

Quote:
Robert Stephens graduated from Carleton College (average cost: $42,942/year) in 2010 and now studies law at The George Washington University Law School (average cost: $70,449/year). His father has a Ph.D. and two master’s degrees; his mother also has a master’s degree.

,,,

Phone inquiries into the county property records & taxpayer services office reveal that the Stephens family home is not and never has been in foreclosure, that property taxes had been paid in full this year and the remaining balance on their mortgage for the half-million dollar home is less than one year’s worth of tuition+fees at their son’s law school.

The nail in this empty protest‘s coffin is a delightful phone conversation I just had with Robert’s mother, Marquita, where she admitted Chase Bank indeed was not “taking” their home from them. Instead, due to a recent “reduction in income,” they’ve decided to hold a “short sale.”

Um, wow. Yeah I could only watch the first minute and a half of that guy's screaming....sounds like a spoiled brat's tantrum, just that he happens to be an adult.

So....his parent's decided to sell the house and he is pitching a fit because he thinks the bank "took" the house for no reason??

Also, I love how he "pauses" his crying to make sure the media spell his name right... ....."waaah waaah waaah oh that's stephen with a PH waaah waaah waaah!"

This video sums it up for me. Policy differences are one thing, but lol when it comes to the race card.

Back story:

http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2011/09/ ... epage=true

Basics:

- California will be voting on SB185 which allows colleges the latitude to base student admissions (in part?) by race, ethnicity, gender etc if they choose too.

- Campus republicans at UC Berkeley held a bake sale charging based on race and gender:

Remembering that this is happening at Berkeley....
