I don't think people are broken at all. I think people are generally good. People get dumb in packs though. 100 million people exceptionally so. It's one reason why I prefer a smaller goverment where states are more important.

The whole conservative vs liberal thing is a false choice imo. None of the "conservatives" or "liberals" vary much in their opinion of how big the government should be. They just have different flavors of the same madness.

They, generally speaking, can't be bothered with trivialities like politics and government when there's shopping do be done!

The government is not broken. It is a victim of a constitution meant to slow things down and the current reality of short attention span theater for politics.
