Watched it again for the first time in about five years. Was reminded why I saw it 17 times in the theatre. Still easily makes the top 3.

Are you going to follow it up with the sequels to see if they've gotten better with age?

This summer I watched The Matrix again for the first time in almost a decade, while letting my son watch it.

Afterward...

Lachlan: "Mommy, could the Matrix be real?"
Me: "No, it's just a story."
Lachlan: "But...how would you know?"
Me: "...touché."

It's really too bad they never made any other movies to follow up on the story line... But I guess it's a good thing they didn't go off the rails and make two really horrible sequels.

The second Matrix movie wasn't so bad, if you cut out everything that happens outside of the Matrix...

Yeah, but even then, when he gets to meet the Architect or whoever at the end, I pretty much sat there and thought, "Huh?" Still, they could have rescued it in the third one, but just dropped the ball horribly.

The first movie is a masterpiece.

The second has so many flaws you could write an essay about it, but on the whole I thought it was enjoyable.

The third movie is just a damn shame.

It could have only been saved if it was a Matrix within a Matrix. Going off of the Machine's .1% (or whatever the number.. I don't care to remember) of people that could not accept their reality. Neo being a .1% of the .1% an anomaly within the anomaly and ultimately leading them out of the machine's grasp forever.

The second's also biggest flaw is bringing Smith back. Yes, yes. He's badass. People love him. Fans will whine and complain about my opinion. BUT..... in order to drive the real point home of the first movie, he needed to permanently die.

But no, by virtue that the third movie exists, the second one is crap.

That.... and it has Keanubutt. Not much can compensate for that.
