I also see paroled and released criminals being treated as second class citizens. I feel that if they are released from prison that they need all of their rights returned, not this hybrid "seperate but equal" crap.

I would (generally) agree with this, in particular with sex offenders. However, a large part of the "separate but equal" thing has nothing whatsoever to do with them not having their rights returned; it's other citizens simply not willing to trust conviced felons. That's freedom of association.

Again, where is that job going to come from? Special preferences for prior convictions? Or are we now going to make it illegal to discriminate based on prior conviction status? If we're going to do that, why allow people to mandate qualifications for jobs at all; if you can't keep someone out of an investment job because they embezzled last time they had one, how can you justify any qualification?

I never said anything of the sort. You don't need to make it illegal to discriminate, just don't have a publicly available felon database that every employer can have a computer program automatically check every prospective applicant against. Sure some employers will still be able to figure it out anyway, the idea is to actually force them to consider the applicant's qualifications rather than just automatically throwing them away without even looking at it.

Employers not hiring felons is not a freedom of association thing in many cases. In lots of fields it's flat out illegal to hire felons for certain jobs, or against the regulations of the organization that governs the profession, making it de facto illegal. For example, a convicted felon can't be a lawyer because the American Bar Association automatically expels/refuses to admit you. The same is true in medicine and a lot of professional fields.

Why would we do that? So felons can lie about their criminal history more easily, and compete on an equal footing with people who, you know aren't felons?

Yes, and this is exactly the way its supposed to be. Once you cross a certain line, you are permenantly tainted in some respects barring extreme measures to clear yourself. This is because no one should have to risk the consequences of you having not reformed yourself.
