Are you playing in full screen mode or windowed mode in full screen?

The game for me has problems sometimes swapping to/from full screen.

But I always play in a windowed screen, so your problem is not one I'm familiar with.

Hooray Müs! Anub is fun stuffs in ToGC10. Probably in 25, too, but like you I won't get a chance there. :p

We would've had Tribute to Insanity this week but we wiped once on, of all fights, Northrend Beasts. Two charges in a row he hit someone. Two in a row! And we still got him down to under a million hp before he enraged. :( His ice breath is mean when he enrages...

Now we'll probably go next week and wipe 4 times. Kinda dislike the "X attempts left" idea! Too random compared to normal achievements. :( Ah well, it's something to shoot for, as my guild just lost one of our best dps since the aforementioned Holy Paly that left the guild was a lady who he talks with often. Maybe someday we'll get around to trying ToGC25! Until then we shall have our attempts on Insanity.

-

Like NephyrS, I also play in windowed mode, so I don't know that I can offer much advice Diamondeye. If it happens in EQ2 also I'd suggest it's something Windows-related, but that's not exactly actionable advice, so even if I am correct it doesn't help much. You can try setting the resolution to your desktop resolution and just running it in windowed mode. Resolution should be about right, problem should be solved, and uh... Well WoW already has an in-game clock and calendar but maybe there's something else you can get use out of from the rest of your computer while playing!

Heh, I play in 1024x768 with a 1200x 1024 desktop resolution so I can watch Hulu while I play by offsetting the two windows.

WoW doesn't really need that much attention.

Full screen. It decides to switch itself to a full-screen-sized window every so often of its own accord, which is annoying but liveable. The problem is that WoW locks up when that happens. EQ2 doesn't.

The switch in both EQ2 and WoW is likely due to an antivirus or some other window opening- that's the only thing I've ever seen cause a similar effect.

I'm running McAfee and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were the case.

Is your desktop running at a lower resolution than WoW? Maybe try that, that's the first thing that came to my mind. I switched to full screen windowed because it was easier for looking up stuff on the internet while I waited in game for things to happen.

Are you stuck in XP land like me? Actually, I just started up WoW and got on the flight path to go somewhere and then tabbed over to the glade to read; my client locked up and it's never done that before. Sounds like you what you were describing.

All I do know for sure is I run my game and desktop at the same resolution, and I usually haven't hand problems in either full screen or windowed full screen.

I'm running both at 1366x768. The problem is exactly like what you described with tabbing over to the browser, except that I'm playing in full screen and it locks up whether I tab or it switches to windowed itself. I'm also using Vista, unfortunately.

I'm getting really tired of only having 5 bosses to kill. 3.3 cannot drop soon enough.

Also, one dps cloak is inexcusable. :(

I'd guess the first couple weeks in December, and definitely before Christmas. They've been testing bosses pretty heavily the last couple weeks, and have started the testing for heroic modes this week.

Won't be too much longer now.

Holy ****.

http://www.mmo-champion.com/news-2/icec ... ogression/

Wow at the biggest blatant attempt to extend the life of a single patch so far. The plan for rolling out bosses in icecrown are straight up retarded.

Cataclysm must be taking longer than they expected or something.

Blocked at work, guessing it's going to be a staggered release of bosses?

Cut n paste for the blocked folks:

Spoiler:
Icecrown Citadel testing has been progressing very well over the last few weeks, and this has been a huge help to the encounter design team. We want to thank everyone who has logged onto the PTR and tried the encounters there.

As we're now getting closer to the release of 3.3.0, we wanted to talk about our plans for access progression within Icecrown Citadel. Icecrown Citadel is going to be broken up into four distinct sections: The Lower Spire, Plagueworks, Crimson Hall, and Frostwing Halls. We plan on releasing these four sections of Icecrown Citadel over time and not all immediately when patch 3.3.0 goes live. At this point we can't give precise dates for these release dates as they are determined by when patch 3.3.0 goes live. Once dates are known with more certainty, I'll update the community so they can plan appropriately.

The first section that opens will include the Lord Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, Icecrown Gunship Battle, and Deathbringer Saurfang encounters. Progress beyond that point will be prevented for several weeks. Then the Plagueworks will open with Rotface, Festergut, and Professor Putricide becoming available. After another period of time, the Crimson Hall will open and you can then fight the Blood Princes and Blood-Queen Lana'thel. The final Frostwing Halls unlock then occurs after that, making Valithria Dreamwalker, Sindragosa, and the Lich King available. We believe a staggered release of the content will allow players to experience Icecrown Citadel at a sustainable, measured, and ultimately more enjoyable pace.

There are other elements that gate access along the way. Players may not attempt any Heroic versions of 10 player encounters until they have defeated the Lich King in a 10 player raid. Similarly, players must defeat the Lich King in a 25 player raid before they can attempt a Heroic 25 player encounter. So players must master every normal difficulty encounter in Icecrown Citadel before attempting Heroic difficulty.

The Lich King may not be attempted until Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, and Sindragosa are defeated. Furthermore, the Heroic difficulty of The Lich King encounter may not be attempted in any week unless the three aforementioned encounters have been defeated in Heroic difficulty that week.

The Ashen Verdict provides reinforcements and material for players to assault Icecrown Citadel, but this support is not endless. Raids will have a limited number of attempts total each week to defeat the four most difficult encounters in Icecrown Citadel: Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa, and the Lich King. As these boss encounters are unlocked, the number of attempts available per week will increase. The initial number of attempts provided for defeating Professor Putricide is only five. When Blood-Queen Lana'thel unlocks, the amount of total attempts remaining will increase to 10. Then when Sindragosa and the Lich King unlock, 15 total attempts will be available to defeat all four bosses. After a raid has exhausted their attempts for the week, the Ashen Verdict must withdraw their support and the four most difficult bosses all despawn and become unavailable for the week. The limited attempt system is a feature of both Normal and Heroic difficulty.

There will be no explicit rewards for defeating the Lich King with a specific number of attempts remaining as there was with Trial of the Grand Crusader. There will also not be an achievement to complete Icecrown Citadel without being defeated by a boss encounter, or letting a raid member die. (i.e. A Tribute to Insanity).

In the weeks and months after all twelve encounters are unlocked, additional attempts against the final four boss encounters become available. This represents the Ashen Verdict growing more powerful and gaining a stronger foothold in Icecrown Citadel. To further help raids, Varian Wrynn and Garrosh Hellscream will begin to provide assistance by inspiring the armies attacking Icecrown Citadel. This is represented as an additional zone wide spell effect applied to all players that will increase their hit points, damage dealt, and healing done. This effect will also increase in effectiveness over time. Players may opt out of the spell's effect if they so wish.

In other words, you have to instill artificial barriers to keep your unoriginal, artificially more difficult encounters from being beat. I got an idea; how about a key quest everyone has to complete to get in. Make it 10 different parts to get the key, with each part being the rare drop off a rare, world spawn.

Or bane weapons. Make the bosses invincible to melee unless a nasty bane weapon quest is completed!

ROFL, auto de-tune. Nice, they don't even have to nerf the content with a patch, it's automatic. I guess someone is planning a nice, fat vacation.

I don't like this. Not one bit. According to this *schedule*... we'll be fighting Arthas round about March '10.

Guessing that we're about a month or so out from 3.3 hitting... we'll get the first 4 bosses when it drops. Then, we'll get 4 more after "several weeks. After "several more weeks" we'll get the next 2 events. Then, "several weeks" again later, we get the last 3 events.

So, a month till 3.3 drops puts it mid December. Then the Plagueworks hits in mid January. Then "several weeks" later (lets be generous and say "4") puts the Crimson Halls release mid February. Then, after several more weeks, (again, lets be generous and say "4") that puts Arthas peeking his head out of his Citadel mid Marchish.

Guess he doesn't want to die before the Superbowl.

Disappointing News to say the least.

They would like to assure us that the planes of power are fully done and itemized, you still just have to beat the Rathe council

I don't mind the content being hard. After several months of 5 raid bosses a week (our guild doesn't want to go back to Uld... :() a big chunk of content would be just the thing. So what happens after we beat the first 4 bosses in the first week of raiding? Well, back to ToC and Ony I guess, oh, and VoA.

Artificial limits are artificial.

Are you saying this title would be more aptly-named "WoW Discussion"?

I don't read it, I just felt like harassing you guys.
