Yeah, I might have peed a little when the Taurus demon jumped in front of me on the wall, but it was worth it. Sure, he may have pummeled me that time, but with some pinewood resin I murderlated him.

I just got the dragon sword from shooting the dragon tail. I went a little farther and saw the mecha-boar... but backed away slowly.

I usually just leave it on for background noise when I'm not actively playing something. Sitting at a bonfire while others go past is nice for getting more Estus Flasks,

Geez, I made decent progress last night. Killed the boar and explored the various paths I can take. I haven't tried the large knight guy though.

Easiest way to kill Black Knights is lowering your equipment burden to under 25% (maximum mobility) and dodge behind them for backstabs. Make sure you have at least 1 humanity (not to be confused with being human) for +25% to drops. Black Knights have some good stuff.
One of the best things I did early on in the game was using my Master Key to unlock the shortcut door to Havel (bottom of a tower in Undead Parish), and killed him for his ring. It raises your equipment burden by 50%. The further along you get in the game, the more you'll appreciate being able to move quickly. One hit from him will likely kill you, but if you're quick you can avoid all of his hits and backstab, same as the BK's.
Edit - speaking of the master key, it's easily what I would call a "requirement" for the game. Opens up a lot of shortcuts or gives early access to good items.

Yeah, I met Havel once, but I haven't gone back to him yet. I think I'm getting close to the gargoyle boss.

How are you guys progressing? I have two or three bosses left so I'm in farm mode right now. SL 320? Trying to finish off all my weapon/armor upgrades before heading into my 2nd game. Just under 50 hours clocked atm I think.

I've cleared all the Darkroot bosses I think. I got the lightning spear from Sen's, but haven't completed Sen's. I went through the demon underground thing, but I think my path is blocked for the rest or I didn't see a path to progress. I ran past the worms to get the chaos ember and teleported out. Those worms suck! I'm tired of fighting those Capra Demons too.
Pyromancy is broken. I'm not sure what to upgrade right not. There are so many options that is can be a little overwhelming if you don't know what everything does. The lighting spear is probably the best thing I have right now. I don't know what shield to keep upgrading or if I want to upgrade another set of gear. I can't upgrade the robe I have from Ceasless Discharge I think.
Saying no the first time to Alvina means no joining the forest hunters...

On my NG+ I am blowing through everything, haha. Right up until the Hellkite Dragon who, if you try to fight up close, has a downward flame attack that seems to 100% kill you no matter what. I did have a good chuckle when I fought the Taurus Demon boss again and a single two-handed plunge from the tower did 2300 damage and almost one-shotted him
FS announced what they're changing in the upcoming patch, and I don't like a lot of the changes. Tons of armor is being nerfed, but weapon scaling is being "fixed". Iron Flesh might as well never get used now, and the dragon head soul exploit is gone too. Twinkling Titanite is going to be sold by some vendors now though, so you only really have to farm chunks/slabs. Slabs suck, but you only need one or two of each so whatever.

Spoiler:
- Weapons with elemental damage have had their Physical/Elemental values changed. Chaos upgrades for example now offer a higher ratio of Fire-versus-Physical. - Some sets of armor have been nerfed (Antiquated, Gold-hemmed, Elite Knight for example). Some buffed. - Some shields have been nerfed (Hollow Soldiers Shield has had it's Stability lowered to 70 at +15 for example). - Players have an additional 10 pounds of equip burden. - Some weapons have had their scaling completely changed. Grant for example now scales with Faith. - Pyro Flame +5 has basically been nerfed: 230 magic adjust down from 270. - Possibly all Chaos pyromancy has had a slight buff (or in case of some, they properly work) in the humanity-scaling department. - Crystal Ring Shield no longer adds the attack of your main-hand weapon to its R2 special attack. - Iron Flesh has been badly nerfed. Unusable by all accounts. - Homing Crystal Soulmass has been nerfed roughly 25% in damage... but the cast time is now faster. - TWoP has has been nerfed. Duration is down... effect has been reduced from 100%+ encumbrance to 50%+ encumbrance, aka Fat Roll, and Derp Jog (unknown details however). - Strong Magic Shield has had the invincibility bug removed. - Dragonstone glitch has been resolved. - Toggle-Cast has been resolved. - You can now lock-on to Fog users (active range unknown). - Dark Wraiths can now drop a Dark Hand.

It's only broken in the sense that it's so overpowered. Pyromancy spells don't scale off stats, only the level of your flame, so once it's at +15 you're raping faces. After the patch the best shields in the game are going to be Eagle Shield or Greatshield of Artorias I think. Both good choices. Eagle shield is in Blighttown and Artorias is made by converting almost any +10 shield with Sif's soul.

I don't know what tweaks they're doing, but Greatshield of Artorias has served me well these past few days. I bought the game a few weeks back, and have been playing it in quite a bit. I also find that it makes a good distraction for long periods of study, because I can just plop down a summon sign in front of Ornstein and Smough, then go and do homework until I'm summoned, or, if I'm not, until my homework is done. XD
