Yup, that's pretty cool.

I don't see how it is 'quantum'. Is it like "whoa this is cool, let's call it quantum!!"?

A discrete quantity of energy proportional in magnitude to the frequency of the radiation it represents.
An analogous discrete amount of any other physical quantity, such as momentum or electric charge.

Because it employs superconductivity which is a quantum mechanical phenomenon? You're too smart to be making comments like that, Lex.

Not passing your hand through a wall is also a quantum mechanical phenomenon.

You're correct, but you're also being intentionally obtuse.

It's a cool video, but they're just using Quantum as a buzzword to pull people into watching their video or give themselves geek cred. I'm pretty sure you can make that work without knowing quantum mechanics.

You see the video?

Any cred they want is pretty much deserved.

Cool. Now eventally without some kind of reapplication of coolant the locked element would loose it's superconductivity and fail right? So that dampers the practical or long term application a bit, as you need to have a system to keep the conductor cool enough that wouldn't overload the magnetic field right?

A large enough levitating platform could support the hardware to cool the platform. I'd think the costs would be prohibitive, but it could probably be done.

The trick you want to pull off is to achieve the same results at room temperature.

Finally had a chance to watch this. Wow, very cool. Now, apply this to trains so I can take the QuantLev to San Francisco from LA.
