The Glade 4.0

Paired a 2012 Arbor Westmark with a pair of '12 Burton Malavita Restricted. Usually, I would poo poo on Burton, but I cannot deny they make bombproof bindings. Arbor has a tradition of use a "power ply topsheet" where the topsheet is actually constructed from a laminate of natural wood veneers to give each board a natural grain finish. They started sublimating screen print graphics over the top. The artwork on this one is done by Dave Kinsey. The base is a sintered die cut base.

Absolutely killer freestyle stick, I can't wait to get out into the terrain park. Breckenridge, here I come, November 18!!!

See, I don't understand people who speak of "bomb-proof" as requisite attributes for equipment to go hurtling down mountainsides.

Sure, the binding's bomb-proof, but is your shin?

When a binding breaks halfway through a run, you get to find out ALL the parts of your body that aren't bomb proof!

I've seen binding baseplates fail catastrophically on more than one occasion. Binding baseplates nowadays are almost all made out of fiberglass impregnated nylon (DuPont Zytel (tm)) and it's amazing how strong these plastics are. Some binding mfr still construct from aluminum but they've got me solidly believing more things should be made of this material like weapons (knives!).

Hah, exactly what prompted me to say that. I ordered a new Recon 1 Tanto Blade and I saw they make some disposable, low cost shivs out of various glass impregnated plastics.

I tell myself that one of these days I will get into snowboarding (or even possibly skiiing). I used to skateboard all the time when I was a pre-teen.

It's kind of sad, I live 40 minutes from Park City (where Shaun White lives) as well as many other resorts, and yet I've never been skiiing or boarding. Ever.
