Bleh. So glad I don't play anymore. The talent changes alone would have me cancelling my sub if I hadn't already.

5 zones! Pandas! Pokemon! 6 talent points!

Fail.

An unarmed combatant seems like a logical addition to the wow class structure.

Panda anthromorphs seems a little hokey to me. Having a near human or another race of elves in the "orient" might fit with the Wow feel better.

Talent changes will always be with us and someone will always fatally hate them.

Well, it's not like pandas haven't shown up before in Warcraft lore...but still, this expansion has horrible written all over it and like Arafys, I am glad I no longer play.

As a former Alliance player I am glad I left when I did. Getting kicked in the teeth by the devolopers for several expansions was not fun. So what is the first thing they announce for the next expansion...Theramore burnt to the ground!

I'll give a contrary opinion:

I never bothered picking up Cataclysm, I haven't played for a year and a half.

If SWTOR bombs I'd consider picking up WoW again because I've always thought they should add Pandarens and neutral races.

They won't be neutral, though. You have to pick a side at level 10.

Pandaren will be at least as serious as Gnomes and Goblins. Probably moreso. Then the overall plot itself will have some interesting war stuffs going on, so we are told. As someone that would love a Gnome-based expansion I'm certainly in no shape to complain. It's not like I can't feel cool now cause the game I play has a Pandaren in the group where before it might've been a Gnome or Goblin. The coolness boat already sailed on WoW before the game ever launched... :p

But it mostly comes down to how you play the game. I mostly just raid, and raiding doesn't seem much changed in the new expansion from current. Minor improvements here and there, but it's still probably going to be the sameish game as it has been for awhile now. I understand a lot of people have already been there and done that and no longer play, which is fine. For me, if I am having fun logging in and killing bosses a few nights a week with my guild, whether or not I have a Pandaren in the raid is not going to matter a whit. It probably helps that I've been in the same guild for 4 years now, since the raiding has been more or less identical for all these years. Maybe I'd be sick of it if I had to go in and play with strangers only.

Still feeling a little skeptical about SWTOR's 6+ month range... maybe it's a vocal minority but I've seen all too many people complain about feeling like time before max level is wasted and that they just skip quest text altogether. I'm pretty sure Bioware will pull that part of the game off fantastically, but I haven't ever been all that impressed with their gameplay mechanics in any game of theirs I have played so I'm left thinking it won't be anything special at max level. Maybe I'll be wrong on that, and maybe they'll do the leveling thing well enough to turn the "lolrp" people into those who enjoy the experience on the way up. Time shall tell!

And just random incidental clarification since this seems to be such a hang-up for a lot of people: Pandaren pre-date Kung Fu Panda by a long time, with some non-shallow amount of depth to boot. There was one in War3 that you would play... there was a questline involving one (though not directly) in the Barrens from day 1 of WoW... and there apparently was this huge pen and paper RPG before WoW that even had stats for them as a playable race and stuff. They came from the Blizzard lead artist's design, which itself was probably copied (intentionally or otherwise) from a bunch of other sources that had something similar. I believe Tekken had a sort of eastern fighting panda, and Ranma 1/2 did too maybe? I'm a bit murky here. :p They definitely have a similar feel to Kung Fu Panda, as far as I understand it, and they aren't hiding that fact or trying to act totally innocent and oblivious. but. yar. I guess I'm a bit confused at the Panda hate since Gnomes and especially Goblins should've driven away any serious players long ago.

I know pandarens have been in the game since day one. I'm not bothered they are being added. But MoP has no central bad guy. It's just "WAR!!!" which is completely **** boring to me. With all of the **** that threatens Azeroth every god damn day, all the Alliance and Horde bother to do these days is fight each other for no **** reason. The fact that this new expansion is going to focus mainly on the pointless war pisses me off.

And no, goblins and gnomes fit well in the world. Goblins especially haven't changed since Warcraft 2, so there's no reason to complain about the way they act.

Yar I'm not complaining about them. I like them! Gnomes, at least. Just saying that a lot of people are all "pandaren are silly!" yet seem to not mind that Gnomes and Goblins both are, too.

I'm not too sure how I feel about no lack of big iconic villain. Vanilla didn't have one, but then I'm not someone that puts vanilla WoW on a pedestal. I figure it won't really matter for most of the expansion, but probably gonna miss out some in the expansion's last patch.

I'm not really upset over the panda stuff. I think it looks kinda childish so far, much like the movie. I was hoping for a darker feel to the game heading forward. I suspect they are trying to hold on to subs, appealing to younger audiences and families in general. It feels that way also because they seem to be simplifying a lot of aspects of the game from what I can tell.

I do worry about the talent tree changes. 6 points for 90 levels seems like horse spit, if I am reading that right. And the ones they have listed leave a lot to be desired. 3 each tier, appearing mostly to be 1 throw away, 1 pvp, and 1 pve. Seems that the tree will get even more cookie cutter and restrained.

I also worry that they will never get around to fixing a lot of bugs that have been in the game for years. Or that they will not try to help specs/classes that need brought in line with others. In my mind, specs like BM hunters being crap since WotLK nerfs shortly after release.

Hell, this year when the brewfest rolled around, I got the same bug that was in game last year (where you roll on the stein/trinket, and someone leaves without rolling, nobody gets the item). Complained all last year about it, and first time in this year, the bug still existed.

Pet health bug that has been in forever now, which is a major problem at times and game breaking imo. Now, pet bars disappear at times until you dismiss and resummon. Something that could use a hotfix really quick, since it's a major flaw in the game, not just some aesthetic.

Personally, I feel the game has gone downhill since Activision has become involved. Maybe they will turn it around, but I ain't holding my breath at this point. I certainly am not signing up for the 12 month contract, either.

Which you can't do at all if you're an unholy DK. It won't take the dismiss command when the bug happens, and you can't summon over top of your existing pet.

Only thing you can do at that point is /reload ui, but that will wipe your conversation history and forces you to reload all of your addons as well.

I don't mind the Panda thing. I'm more saddened over the gameplay and character customization changes.

I like how a lot of fans are hating on the Pandaria content but forget the game they play is based in lore which, for the more part, is silliness.

There are gnomes and steam punk ****. That cancels all Warhammer inspired content, realized or potential. Including making a necron playable race.

Necron isn't in Warhammer Fantasy, it's in 40K, which is most assuredly NOT silly - unless you mean over-the-top brutal and gruesome and disturbing to the point that it gets a bit silly.

What I find most entertaining is that the "Panda race" thing was done by EQ and EQ2 already. They just weren't playable.

In the Grim Darkness of the far future, there is only grimness. And darkness. And, at times, Hello Kitty Sisters of Battle.

Which are kinda silly.

And so are Orks. But that's it.

I haven't noticed any Hello Kittiness about the sisters of battle. They mostly strike the same theme as almost everyone else - "We're mad, and we're really pissed off about that!" with a **** kind of way angry nun motif. Not so much silly as just over the top.

The Orks are kind of comic relief, but even they are so brutal that "silly" just doesn't cut it.

That's not a Photoshop. That said, EQ and EQ2 lifted Pandaren's from WarCraft II.

However it was created, "Hello Kitty Dreadnoughts" are not even remotely part of WH40K canon.
