That wasn't what annoyed me about that Superbowl. And you know as well as I do what would have happened had they actually called the fourth quarter in that game properly, even if we allow the Helmet Catch.

As for last night, I watched the game. I know where the Patriots played poorly and played well. And I watched bad officiating give the Giants opportunities they never should have had. That last pass interference call was bullshit.

They knocked the Giant player down!

It wasn't a holding call they let go, it was an "in the grasp" call. The reason the let it go is because "in the grasp" is a call made against the quarterback for the protection of the quarterback, and they tend to allow those sorts of things in championship games. IE. let the players play the game, they've got an entire off-season to rest and recover, and no one pays to watch officials officiate.

And I strenuosly disagree about the pass interference call. That is how the NFL wants it interpreted, and the officials make that call consistantly.

This is the second to last play of Super Bowl 42:

This is the last play (if anyone can find a higher quality video, please link it):

In the first video, there was clearly no pass-interference. That was just perfect coverage. In the second, it's hard to tell because of the video quality.

Those are the same play, Rynar ... weird ...

Maybe not.

That's not the 3rd down I remember.

The first is the second to last play of the game, which left 10 seconds on the clock. The second is the final play.

Nope, it was 3rd down that was bugging me. In Mookhow's cut, that's definitely pass interference. 28 goes for Moss's arms, not the ball. Look at the angle replay around 9:10-9:13

After the ball had arrived and been deflected by the other defender.

Sorry, its not PI.

Moss couldn't make a play because of intentionally limited mobility. You're going to tell me that's not PI but Sergio Brown tripping over his own stupidity and grabbing some dude's thighs is? Really?

I don't want to hear about any nitpicky pass interference or questionable in the grasp calls.

The refs actually DID gift Jerome Bettis a superbowl ring in 2005 by making/missing some very blatant calls. One of which included giving Rothlisberger a touchdown that wasn't. The same official also called Hasslebeck for a crackback block on a breakaway, which clearly wasn't. It was blatant enough that the official actually came to Seattle and apologized to the team during the 2006 pre-season.

Quote:
It is pass interference by either team when any player movement beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders the progress of an eligible player of such player’s opportunity to catch the ball. Offensive pass interference rules apply from the time the ball is snapped until the ball is touched. Defensive pass interference rules apply from the time the ball is thrown until the ball is touched.

One defender touched the ball and deflected it,then the other defender made the motion to tackle Moss. Neither of them interfered significantly with Moss' ability to catch the ball.

Not to mention the phantom holding call on Locklear on the Jerramy Stevens goal line catch.

Bullshit, Moss's arms clearly can't reach the ball because of what you call "the motion to tackle". I may not like the Pats, but I don't like seeing Manning or Coughlin winning games they shouldn't.

After the ball had been deflected. That's important. 28 doesn't touch Moss until after the pther defender had already made the play.

I don't know why you can't see that.

Was just making an observation. GB has played and beat some quality opponents. However, the rest of their schedule is pretty weaksauce.

And yes, the Seahawks suck. I know this. I don't think I've said otherwise this year.

See, I'm just not seeing it. Three games against teams standing at .750, and only one against a team below .500 isn't what I would call "creampuff, or "weaksauce".

Chicago(.571), Minnesota(.250), Tampa(.500), Oakland(.500) and KC(.500) are all very beatable. I wouldn't call any of those teams *good* by any stretch of the imagination. "Average" at best.

The Seahawks(.250) beat the Giants(.750).

That leaves Detroit(.750). Providing Stafford stays upright... They might make a game of it.

Beatable, I'll agree with, not "creampuff".

After the ball has been touched in any way, by any of the other 23 players on the field after it leaves the quarterbacks hands, the ball is considered live rather than thrown until such time as it touches the ground. Contact of any sort with the intended reciever, short of a helmet to helmet hit, up to and including tackling him to the ground are legal.

Negative. I don't see any evidence 26 got his hands on the ball before Moss's arms were hindered.

It's at :58 of the first video I posted. You can clearly see Moss's arms are free when Webster tips the ball.

Arguing with Khross is like arguing with a 5 year old who's parents taught him/her that they always get to win at Monopoly. Eventually the grown-up in the conversation just needs to pack up the gameboard and walk away.

I've watched it all about 20 times this morning. 28 has both hands on Moss's and 26 his a hand on Moss's left arm at :30-32 in the first video at the time the ball is tipped. You can see it in the video you posted. It's even clear in Mookhow's cut, which shows that both players had hands on Moss before 26 touched the football (8:40-8:48 in Mookhow's video).
