Hm. Having never seen American History X, I couldn't have told you that Ed Norton was in it. I *do* recall him beating people up in that turd of a Fight Club movie.

The scene that sets the movie has him, as a white supremacist, curb stomping a black victim to death (IIRC). He turns his life around in prison, and gets out, and tries to save his younger brother from the same sort of life. It's an excellent movie.

That such a moment was brought up as a violent fantasy directed against a prominent black man was kind of disturbing to me.

Honestly, all the violent fantasies and less than fantasies we have been seeing around here lately are getting out of hand.

Yes. Out of hand. Elmo, you, and now darksiege have all engaged in some pretty horrifying posts lately. Your wish to see someone put a bullet in Nancy Pelosi's head, Darkseige's white supremacist imagery, and Elmo's out and out call to assassinate politicians. I am quite convinced that what Elmo did is a crime and opens the board up to some serious ****.

When we accepted the end user agreement, these sorts of posts were specifically not allowed. I fear I'm going to get into trouble with this post for armchair moderation or something, but honestly, it's way, way way out of hand.

It's not cool to wish that kind of death on someone simply because you disagree with them. And the worse it gets, the worse our conversations here get. Hell, Darkseige doesn't even understand why his particular outburst might be so disturbing. He may as well have called for Jackson to be lynched.

That dude is an idiot, he knows it, we know it... but being an idiot and being paid is easier than working... which puts him in the category of a slightly smarter than the average idiot, idiot.

So, I should simply remain quiet while people openly call for assassinations against elected officials, or use violent racist imagery when a black man says something they don't like, or *leave*?
