Do you really place that high of an importance on the gay relationship of a couple of penguins? If so, how about proportionality to the astronomical costs of taking care of the penguins and trying to artificially perpetuate their species upto and including the alternative to natural breeding?

You know, of all the penguin "rights violations" that one can get upset over, I'm thinking there's a few more important ones that occur in a zoo.

I'm not so sure. I believe these penguins mate for life, so we're talking about two animals with a strong emotional bond being separated, which will most likely be extremely upsetting for them.

They should just introduce a couple of females and see what happens.

Doesn't work. They've tested this with gay penguins before. They aren't adapting to gender availability. They're actually homosexual. (I know where you're coming from. There's this misconception that heterosexual is somehow "natural" and homosexual is somehow "unnatural," but that's not the case. Apart from human behavior being natural in and of itself, we aren't the only species where a small minority has sexual preferences that are not heterosexual.)

However, I'm not overly concerned with the rights of non-humans, especially when one is attempting to save an entire species.
