It's pretty hard to steal something as heavy as a gun safe, especially since most of them get bolted to the floor.

not easily stolen The one I ordered is 1400# with 8 6" Floor concrete anchors, and 6 back wall anchors once fully loaded it will weigh over 2500#. to get it out you be taking part of the foundation and a section of block wall from my office.

Any of you guys watch American Guns?

Not a gun owner myself but this show is really cool. My son got me into it.

Less easily stolen when connected to a mercury switch detonator.

but then it could mess up your guns and/or ammo if you store it in containers at the bottom of the safe

Really not a solution I'd lean towards.
Just got the report back on 1 of the guns I bought, and it was the cheapest one, I was considering using it as a truck gun, Not any more.
S&W prewar 38/44 precursor to the 357 magnum that we all know and love. Condition 95% collector value approx 10X what I paid.

only limited ammo stored with guns.
Bulk Ammo has it's own safe in my tool room, though the level of destruction to the house would be about the same.

Then there's the 3 Queensland healers to deal with.

That guy on American Guns is a bit of a scumbag, and his shop has a pretty bad rep among the Denver/CS gun scene...

One of my clients recently purchased a pair of left and right handed, ivory gripped, colt revolvers with matching serial numbers. Unused. They are easily the most beautiful guns I've ever seen.

Ahh okay.

Good to know. See, I was thinking about possibly needing to get a safe in the somewhat distant future.

It depends on the safe. I don't think my father's gun safe is bolted to the floor, though it probably could be. Gun safes do a lot more than just lock your guns up where thieves can't get at them. Especially if you have small children, or could have small children in the foreseeable future.

Colt hasn't made a good revolver in quite some time ...

These aren't anything close to new, and as I said, they're unused. The intent of the purchase was to collect, not to fire.

Well, here's the problem ...

Those guns are useless if they've never been fired.

I'll be sure to get him on the phone right now and start an argument with him over it.

We're talking about 2 Colt Single Action Army .45 revolvers with Ivory Handles, which means they're likely Patton pistols; that is, they're part of a post-World War II production run selling firing replicas of Patton's SAA. So, yes, worthless unless they shoot; and then, not an investment item in the first place. You'd need an SAA manufactured between 1874 and 1917 for it be worth anything, and you would still need to demonstrate that it works.

Maybe they just are attractive on the wall and were purchased primarily as decoration.
