Probably related if I had to guess. Seems like the best source for mods atm.

Pretty sure TESnexus and that one are of the same...person? Company? Whatever. They run a lot of mod sites including dragonagenexus, fallout3nexus and newvegasnexus to name a few. I know TESnexus has both Oblivion and Morrowind, but I'm guessing that the place is pretty crowded, especially when going to look at the top 100 list.

I don't get it. Is no one else annoyed with the lack of a quest log? I can't find anyone on the internet complaining about it, but it's really bugging me. In all the previous games, your character wrote down quest information he got from someone so you could review it later. In Skyrim... nothing. At most you get a few sentences which often lack critical information. I have no idea wtf half the quests in my log are about.

I'm also very annoyed with a lot of quests where they don't tell you where to go or give you any clues. They just expect you to use the magical arrow that points you in the right direction. But I mostly just don't understand why no one else seems to be having this problem. Am I missing something?

Clairvoyance spell helps.

Just don't have multiple quests flagged as active.

Also your current task notes are listed above, and the step by step below. (Only not the case for Misc quests)

Also, stupid horses are stupid. Don't attack a wild mountain cat and die, stupid horse. You just cost me a thousand gold, and I'm not even going to go back and save you. You deserve to die, and I hope you rot in horse purgatory.

I can't figure out the rules on companions. They can permanently die, but I don't see what makes them die sometimes and only get knocked out others. is it a level thing? Or can only you actually kill your companion?

I've turned down three other companions so far, keeping lydia. Curious about the benefits of various companions.

Still waiting for my PC that is supposed to arrive on Monday...but how essential are companions? I don't really like having companions in games like this(I used Dogmeat in Fallout 3 and that's it) so I'm hoping I don't have to take any if I don't want to.

I wouldn't know. I killed my first companion after about 30 seconds after she was gifted to me.

I don't care for them as combat companions, but I like having the added load-bearer.

They're not super useful. It's easy to hit them as an archer, and it's easy to hit them as a melee character. You're probably going to kill one or two yourself.

I don't use them 99% of the time. But the few times I've had them, they made things easier. Especially against ranged casters and you're pure melee without any magic protection.

Right now I'm playing pure caster, and lydia is basically a free tank. I armored her up and sent her in.

Maybe I need to have a companion with me because I've been focusing solely on archery and stealth and I'm starting to get my *** kicked.

Spoiler:
I'm level 12 and just went up the steps to see the Greybeards. Was attacked by a frost saber cat for the first time who killed me in two hits. Had to reload several times and eventually just sneaked past it.

One i got the normal movement while having my arrow drawn, i haven't swapped back to axe and shield often.

I think I've played so much that I'm sick of it. I'm going outside. :3

It's better that way. You can use fast-travel.

Ok it's getting good now. I have to say initially I was kinda eh on it but now that I've ranked up a tiny bit to 4 and completed the first of the main quest line I'm enjoying it more.

WTF! I come back to Whiterun and am immediately accosted by three armed thugs yelling about teaching me a lesson. As this was happening right outside of my house in the Wind district in front of several guards and I am an a Thane of Whiterun, I can't believe not a single one of them came to my assistance.

I had to duck into my house to activate Lydia to follow me to assist with the fight. After finally killing the three of them, I looted a contract for my head from one of them signed by "Gerda". Apparantly, I was being taught a lesson because I stole from the wrong person.

I don't know how that could have happened because the only house that I extensivly stole from was immediatly before I fast travelled back to Whiterun, the owner attacked me first and there were no other witnesses.

Whatever, still loving this game.

RE: Smithing, especially if you're going heavy armor

I met Calcelmo in Understone Keep. He sends you off through Nchuand-Zel. The run through there (including the 2nd quest you pick up while in there) has a ton of Dwarven ore, metal, plates, scrap, etc.

Loot it all (when I say all I mean literally everything, you're going to be overweight no matter what, some of the ore blocks weigh 25 each) . Yes, you're going to be slow and the #%$# Falmer & or Dwarven automatons will kill your companion several times--however, I walked out carrying over 2500. (Yes, I slow walked most the way) I walked to the smelter, melted it all down into over 250 ingots of Dwarven Ore.
Making dwarven plate & bows (bows don't require leather) I was able to take my smithing from 40->86 and my speechcraft up by 7 or 8 and made 4-5k gold. (any time the smith there ran out of cash I'd wait 24 hours. I was able to convert all my armor & weapons to Epic (elven and/or glass--I'm going light armor, but did pick up dwarven smithing to be able to use this) I upgraded all of Lydia & My gear to Epic quality, (an epic glass bow is a 50% increase in damage over the base glass bow for comparison, and sells for about 30% more.)

Made the maddeningly slow crawl through the town worth it.

Using Whirlwind Sprint will speed up the dungeon significantly if you do this.

...snip...

I was just considering doing the same exact thing, raising my smithing a ton to either make my own armor or just improve what I find.

As an aside, I'm level 19 now. Just walked to Winterhold to join the mages college, then walked all the way down to Riften to join the thieves guild. Loving the game now.
