The ironic thing? Link is left-handed.

I think the first time we ever see him right-handed was in the last wii game.

Link was originally left-handed in Twilight Princess. He still is, if you have the GC version of the game. Nintendo ended up mirroring the game after they saw some people at a game convention trying to play TP right-handed but seeing Link move with his left hand instead.

While I typically qualify as "right-handed," I am proficient enough with my left hand that, had Twilight Princess not been mirrored, I probably would have switched hands just so I could match Link.

I was wandering the mall last night, and they (whoever 'they' is) had set up a demo kiosk promoting Skyward Sword. I got to try it out, southpaw style, and I didn't notice any particular issues. It was a bit awkward, but it felt more a matter of the controls being awkward rather than having my motions not mirrored by Link being awkward. So I'll go ahead and get it next week. I'm going to get the CE thing that comes with the Motion Plus, since I don't have that yet.

First Impressions:

Pros:
I like the controls, sword fighting is more interesting with the direction of your stroke mattering as you fight certain enemies. Some enemies block and you have to vary the direction/speed of your swings or some enemies can only be damaged by horizontal verticale strikes.

New ways to do old things. swinging, leaping from vinewall to vine wall.

Stamina gauge.

Motion plus aiming > sensor aiming.

Cons:
Rolling is a bit harder.
Flying seems overrated (but better with a motion plus)
Annoying expository companion still present, though slightly more humorous than previous incarnations.
Released on busiest retail week of the year.

I just picked this up yesterday at Best Buy.

I had a $25 giftcard, and the game came with a $10 giftcard. So I bought a flash drive.

:)

This has been getting awesome reviews, and I haven't played a full Zelda campaign since 2006, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna bother buying a motion plus :(

I would love to play this, but this all goes right back to the problem I have with not enough gaming time.

I would be remiss to not play this, though. I was a Nintendo holdout for far too long and they ended up disappointing me greatly. Zelda is probably the only thing that I remember fondly from my Nintendo days. I am going to have to find a way to squeeze this game in.

It's not required. You can play the game with sensor tracking. I just use it b/c I'm a maniac and had to have the CE with golden wii remote+ and symphonic CD

Yeah, I know I can still play it, but I feel like I wouldn't want a second round of Twilight Princess controls :[

Yeah I noticed that after I bought the game, looks like I'll have to pick up a motion plus controller.

Apparently I missed my window on buying the Wiimote+ bundle. So I bought the basic game and some Wiimote+ bundle of some game called Flingsmash. However, after reading a couple of reviews of Flingsmash, I'm going to trade that for a basic Wiimote+.

The Beetle could quite possibly be the coolest new item in quite some time

It's cool. I like it, but haven't gotten very far.

I had to come back here and do a post-completion write up. I wonder if it's only nostalgia that keeps me from saying: Best Zelda Ever.

It's certainly the best Zelda game in a long time. It's in the same league as Link to the Past and Oricana of Time. It's great to say that The Curse (the second Zelda game on any platform bites the big one) is broken. It's certainly everything a 25th anniversary celebration/commemoration of the series should be. There are a lot of cameos and throwbacks to lesser Zelda series and events. You see a lot of people and places that look like they are from previous games, but aren't quite or named so.

I thought the ending is good. It does a great job of stringing everything together, making a things make a little more sense.

Also do play though again on hero mode. The game is worth the re-through.

Apparently, there's a game-breaking glitch for which Nintendo is eventually getting around to fixing.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/ ... Works/8376

Spoiler:
There's no word of a patch, and it's probably best not to get your hopes up. Also - spoiler alert.

Alright, so spoiler warning here folks - we're going to talk about things that happen in 'Skyward Sword' because the glitch in the game can't be talked about otherwise. You've been warned!

The way Nintendo explains it, this glitch renders the game unable to be finished. The company has issued full details on how the glitch happens so that you don't end up doing it in your copy of the game, but there's no plan to fix the game via patch. The details of how to cause the glitch are below.

1. At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.

2. In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.

3. Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.

4. Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.

5. At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.

Wow. Deja vu all over again, it would seem.

Twilight princess cannon room glitch

I fell victim to this glitch and had to start all over again after about 55 hours of play.

I heard about that, but I kept going to the realms in the same order as I visited them the first time so it wasn't an issue.
