The ergonomics argument is elegant but flawed. Bluetooth or diocletian keyboards exist for tablets, and they thus meet your criteria.

I'd argue it's more about intent - PCs are primarily built, though not always used, as general purpose tools. Tablets are primarily, though not exclusively, consumption devices.

It's a tricky line though. Tablets with keyboards plugins and productivity software are the norm, not the exception.

Saying that they "exist for" tablets hardly exposes a flaw. Independant keyboards and monitors exist for laptops too; that doesn't make them desktops.
