One thing about the game I wish Bethesda had improved more is the A.I. of the enemies and other NPCs.

And... Just like in Oblivion, the Dark Brotherhood quest-line destroys all others. I was very impressed at the epicness of it over the last game. And, just like in Oblivion, the fighter's...er.. "Companions" quest-line left much to be desired.

The Thieves Guild quests(especially the last quest to steal one of the Elder Scrolls) blew everything else out of the water in Oblivion. The Dark Brotherhood was rather bland and boring in my opinion.

I'm now convinced, after my second 12+ hour marathon in as many days that the reason Bethesda takes so long between games has nothing to do with production time, and everything to do with worries over furious wives killing their fan base. I'm officially hanging up my controller until two weekends from now.

That could very well be the case.

Ouch, how far in were you? On the bright side starting over can be kinda fun.

I was going to say that too. Most games, I'd be pissed to lose my save. This one, I'd be kind of excited to start it over in a completely different play style.

I was a little annoyed by the Nightengale thing.

Spoiler:
Them:You have to take the daedra's gift to beat him.
Me: Um, no. I'm pretty badass and I'm pretty sure I don't need your goddess' help or yours.
Them: You have to do it to continue the story.
Me: Goddamit
I beat Maven, Maverick, ...Marty? Whatever his name was, without taking much damage. My allies might have been confused by his turning invisible, but I just filled his Predatoresque outline with arrows from my 120 damage bow.

I think it's a game where doing everything on one character makes things too easy as you get more tough. It's sometimes difficult to suspend my sense of disbelief. I should be the **** High King... I could defeat both armies solo.

You could try upping the difficulty, unless you're already maxed.

I'm playing a bit of a jack of all trades, using archery, stealth, light armor, conjuration, and destruction, and absolutely no melee weapons or shields, other than the occasional dagger for backstabs. I'll also try to raise smithing and enchanting to 100 just to play with those. The temptation to try to do everything and go everywhere and do every questline on my first playthrough is just too tempting.

Assasin's Blade may just be the single most broken perk in the game.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not. Vampire story:

Spoiler:
Got bit by a vampire and kinda ignored it since nothing really bad was happening to me. Then I hit what I now know to be stage 4 and was KOS to ... pretty much everyone. So off I go to figure out how to remove it and learn I need to "feed" to get back to stage 1.

Feeding entails stealth and I was wondering why I was so god awful at it even after upping my skill a good bit and taking the first perk (+20% stealth for 1 point is a good deal!). People were even finding me when I did the vampire invis power! Then I realized Heavy Armor is a bit conspicuous :)

Working toward this perk. My Sneak is in the low to mid fifties, but as yet I haven't been able to land a successful on-handed BS with the 6x perk. Moving slowly, light armored up and still my intended target seems to see/hear me coming every time.

It's official. I am now sneak playing Skyrim in my office while I fake my Monday morning conference calls. Terrible.

Disgraceful. I'm totally jealous.

Playing with a Mouse and Keyboard?

Yes.
Mouse and Keyboard only has 2 Movement Speeds while sneaking. This may be complicating things for you.

Yeah, you are gonna need to hold down the walk key while sneaking until you get the perk where it doesn't matter if you're walking or not.

Analogue controllers make this a lot easier.

Ok, then am I missing something? Is there a third movement speed?

I move at default speed when clearing a dungeon/camp/crypt and sneaking levels up as I sneak attack with my bow and hide while the bad guys look around for me before giving up. I use sprint mostly to escape from battles I am overmatched in.

Is there a hotkey for moving slower than the default walk speed that I have missed, then?

EDIT - I see that the Shift key allows for a slower/quieter walk than default. It appears this is what I was missing.

Hmmm. Analog sneaking is the first legitimate reason I've seen to use a controller for this game. Yes, I could see where that could come in very handy.

And I agree that assassin's blade is stupidly overpowered. Especially coupled with the dark brotherhood's gloves (double sneak attack damage). My blade of woe does 30x damage on a sneak attack. I've one-shot unaware dragons.

Still, extremely fun though.

Well, I got a copy today. Won't be playing for another 4 weeks, though. My computer is still awaiting parts, apparently, so my wife is going to wrap it up as a Christmas present.

The Bethesda Blog has patch notes for a new version 1.2 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, saying the PS3 edition is live, and the ETA to update the Windows and Xbox 360 editions of Bethesda's RPG sequel is Wednesday. Here are the patch notes
UPDATE 1.2 NOTES (all platforms unless specified)

Improved occasional performance issues resulting from long term play (PlayStation 3)
Fixed issue where textures would not properly upgrade when installed to drive (Xbox 360)
Fixed crash on startup when audio is set to sample rate other than 44100Hz (PC)
Fixed issue where projectiles did not properly fade away
Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player’s wedding dead
Dragon corpses now clean up properly
Fixed rare issue where dragons would not attack
Fixed rare NPC sleeping animation bug
Fixed rare issue with dead corpses being cleared up prematurely
Skeleton Key will now work properly if player has no lockpicks in their inventory
Fixed rare issue with renaming enchanted weapons and armor
Fixed rare issue with dragons not properly giving souls after death
ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)
Fixed occasional mouse sensitivity issues (PC)
General functionality fixes related to remapping buttons and controls (PC)
After releasing the 1.2 update, we will continue to monitor forums, blogs, etc. for issues you are reporting, and we will keep you updated on further updates to improve your gameplay experience.

I'm kind of sad I didn't get to see the dead wedding guest bug. That sounds hilarious.

Werewolves have no encumbrance limits in crinos form, and regen stamina almost instantly. Finish the companions questline and don't cure your werewolf form.

If you're overloaded and want to haul stuff around, shift form. Just be aware you can't heal in werewolf form except by feeding from humans/elves/aragonians/kajit etc. You can sprint across the world. When you revert, wait 24 hours and repeat. You can't fast travel but it beats a slow crawl or leaving everything behind.

And of course, it makes you KOS everywhere.
