The final scene was fantastic, definitely a very memorable moment in TV history.

Spoiler:
I think they drug it out for to long. It was retarded how she was lost in the original episode, then they let it go on to long. I think they did it to the little girl simply for the shock value. She wasn't a valuable character to the show, so they figure have her turned into a Zombie, then shot in front of everyone simply for the shock value of it.

Spoiler:
Wow...I really thought they would find Sophia.. What was with Daryl when he went off on Carol when he was saddling up the horse to go look for Sophia earlier in the show?

Spoiler:
Of course they did it for the shock value. It also reinforced Rick's position, as he had to do what no one else was willing to do. The search for Sophia was also intrinsic to Daryl's arc - making him see himself as important to the group. Finally, if Shane hadn't sacrificed Otis, Otis would have been able to tell them many episodes ago that he had pulled Sophia out of the swamp and put her in the barn.

Spoiler:
They absolutely dragged it on to long over the season, but that is a separate issue. They should have had some other major event/plot point occur early in the season that would take up a couple episodes so they wouldn't have to stretch this plot out as much as they did.

But that doesn't change the fact that the end of the episode was awesome television.

I think this deep in we can drop the spoiler tags no?

Vindi, you missed one key component on the Rick/Sophia arc. He had to be the one to do it because ultimately it was his fault for leaving her in the woods alone.

To any future reader who navigated here without seeing all of Season 2, I deeply apologise for Hopwin's omission of the spoiler tag.

Spoiler:
It pretty much had to end that way. The series is just a wild west but set in a modern setting. The length of the season gave some chance to flesh out the characters, though it could have been shortened. The Andrea and Shane dynamic, for instance l, is worthless as is the one between Carol and Daryl and Daryl and himself/Sophia. It could have been abbreviated by quite a bit while getting the same point across.

Daryl is definitely my favorite character on the show. Shane and Rick playing off as Kirk and Spock (combined to make one whole character) is ridiculously grating. Also, I hope Maggie sticks around cause she's hot.

Spoiler:
Nah, I am not of the opinion that by running into the woods to save her, it was his fault she wandered off, especially, given the fact that he told her not to.

I agree with you, but he expressed several times during the arc that he felt personally responsible so we have to include that in his motivation.

That doesn't preclude anyone else from doing it, though.

It does not, but I think that Rick was able to do it because he felt obligated to.

Spoiler:
I'm of the opinion that if anyone would have felt obliged, it would have been Daryl, because he didn't find her in time. I think it's more consistent with a broad theme that a leader steps up and does what no one else is willing to do, regardless of motivation. Especially, when confronted with a challenge to their leadership (whether they desire that leadership, or not). As things progress I think that'll be important to the story.

But Rick stated he felt it was his fault. Daryl was searching for Sophia out a desire to comfort Carol. Rick was unable to give up out of a sense of guilt (whether it was or wasn't isn't important, more important is how his character stated he felt).

I didn't get the impression that Daryl was searching for Sophia to comfort Carol..I thought it was more along the lines of making up for the way his brother was.

Finally caught up over the weekend (guess it was good to kill the last 5 episodes when under the weather). ( I also avoided this discussion for weeks so as not to inadvertently read spoilers).

Been watching High School of the Dead (Anime) streaming on Netflix and it is everything Walking Dead should have been (- the sexuality).

Overall a good episode, but there is one thing I don't understand.

Spoiler:
Why was Lori so gung-ho about sending more people after Hershal? It makes no freaking sense at all. They got no new information. Rick already knew whats-her-face had collapsed, they were already going after Hershall. I do not understand the motivation.

Her motivation was Rick, not Hershal

Why? What had changed that she all of the sudden had to go after Rick, who was going after Hershel?

Spoiler:
The longer that his daughter was down, the worse she got. That drove her desire to 'get them back faster'. Honestly, I think Hershel's daughter is infected.
