Torhead is also shaping up to be an excellent resource.

There were rumblings that Vette would be the only romance option for male sith warriors. I was a bit saddened by that, as she really dislikes the Dark Side and will never turn to it (I got really used to seeing "Minus reputation for Vette" in all my conversations). Seeing that Jaesa is another female who built a summer home on the Dark Side is also an option made me much happier to discover.

I think I read that Vette becomes dark if you shock her every chance you get.

I hadn't read that. Everything I read said she was more the "kinder, gentler sith" romance option. I know she didn't like being shocked one bit by at least level 15, and I never missed an opportunity to do so.

Wow. I wonder what it's like to play a class with more than one female, let alone more than one female romanceable, companion.

You can always find out. The Dark Side doesn't have any "no love, no emotion, there is only vulcan" restrictions.

Which, by the way, is my personal theory as to why the Jedi ultimately crumbled and needed to be rebuilt. They were too extreme (when it comes to emotions) on the opposite end. Yoda starts out in the prequels saying that fear is bad and leads down the path of the Dark Side. And he was also extremely rigid and inflexible when it came to training Jedi. Yet, when he gets to Luke who is their last hope he has the dialog "I am not afraid." "You will be. You will be." And he was far more laid back when it came to training him.

I'd like to believe that Yoda, after seeing the Jedi nearly wiped out, came to finally understand the Jedi's misinterpretations of emotions and instead of imposing rules and restrictions on Luke, he instead did what he was meant to be done all along: let the Force guide him.

Anyway.... rambling.

I also want to express my displeasure at having to wait until my mid 40s before getting my love interest. She's pretty hot, though.

I understand her voice is extremely annoying, however (unless you're not talking about Sith Warrior).

He's talking consular, which is the latest-blooming class, romantically, I think.

Yep. 4th and 5th companions are the consular love interests. 41 and 44.

Which still makes sense to me, seeing that Jedi romance is taboo. Which, again, that misunderstood belief is the cause of their downfall (in my opinion).

Sorry you gotta wait a little bit longer than others. :(

It's fine, really. The real worst part is I have to rock Qyzen until Balmora because for some stupid reason they give consulars a healer companion second. Why would a consular need a healer companion? I need a DPS companion.

Tanks? Consulars can be shadows, too. If you're DPS, you can pair well with a tank or healer. If you're a healing Sage, you can pair well with a tank or DPS. If you're a tanking Shadow, you don't pair well with another tank, but can take a healer or maybe a DPS well enough.

So, Qyzen works well for the first two options, so why give the second choice for the third option as the second companion?

Because everyone can use more DPS regardless of AC and spec. Also, tank companions are 100% worthless past level 20 after the armor nerf a few builds back.

Oh? Do tell, cuz this could seriously impact my thoughts about playing a healer and using my companion as a tank.

They used to get a 60% armor buff on their tanking stance, but they took it away. Now they only have a 100% threat and 20% shield chance. Most of the time, my sorcerer has more armor than Khem Val and 100% of the time my IA has more armor than Kaliyo.

Gear them better?

I can understand tank stanced characters having more armor than the tank companions, now, due to the tank stance's buffs, but there's no excuse for your tanking companion to have less armor than a light or medium armored character; that clearly indicates you aren't keeping them equipped. In that case, then, they should be mitigating somewhat more damage than you, if not nearly as much as a player tank partner would, and they are at least good at holding aggro so you can channel without pushback.

They get what they get. Even if they had level appropriate greens, that only puts them at about 15-20% mitigation in heavy armor. Which is pretty bad compared to the 10% my sorcerer runs with. The only saving grace is the 20% shield chance, but shielding isn't that great compared to armor as it can only absorb so much. Shielding is like blocking in WoW.

Of course, Bioware said they rebalanced the 30+ stuff that was overtuned, but I haven't gotten back up there to test it out. But I highly doubt the 20% mitigation and 20% shield chance is going to cut it. May as well bring a DPS companion to kill things faster.

I was able to equip crafted armour on my companion. He was wearing what i was wearing and it seemed better than the quested rewards stuff that was labelled as his gear.

This. I didn't go so far as to spend commendation badges on my companion's gear (not yet, but I was headed that way), but I absolutely gave him the best stuff I could find among drops and vendor gear.

If you have a crafting profession that makes armor, sure. But those crafting professions are almost worthless. Artifice, Biochem, Cybertech and to a lesser extent Armstech are the only ones worth doing. Synthweave and Armormech are all but useless since the best gear has mod slots and those two crew skills have very little of that(I think gloves and boots which you can get through quests, anyway). Since Cybertech makes armor mods, it pretty much regulates Synthweave and Armormech to companion gear.

And the best crafted gear has 4 augment slots, too, so I'm not sure where you're going with that. Sure, you can't make 4-augment gear until you cap crafting, from what I've heard, but it's not like you're going to be rolling in 4-augment rewards from pre-50 questing, either.

Yeah, and up to 16 (limited level i know) the stuff I was crafting in armour was superior to all the loot i found, including Esseles drops. Wouldn't I want to have access to that for levelling?
