This is the worst (or best) ear worm I've had in a long long time...
Short Story: I was scrolling channels two nights ago, and came across a screen with scrolling credits, and this awesome song playing. I hit the ;VolUp', followed by the 'Info' button and found out the movie was "The Good Girl" with Jen Aniston. So I did what I always do. I went to youtube to find the song, expecting to find several versions (live, studio, various artists, covers, etc...) No such luck. Firstly, I assumed the song was called "Railroad Bill" (it's not), and since there were are several other similar songs called "Railroad Bill", I spent some time chasing wild geese. Not finding what I was looking for...
I'm off to IMdb to check on the soundtrack. This is where I found out the song is called "Ride Ride" and was recorded by Gillian Welch for the soundtrack. SWEET! Back to youtube with better info to search with.... still no luck... I did find a recording by the songwriter, but the recording pales to Gillans version...So now I'm off to Amazon to buy the MP3. Hmm.. no such luck. Couple of Gillian Welch albums, but not this song. So I consult The Oracle (Google). Not much help. I just about gave up.. then had a "Duh!" moment.
Additional Tracks Included: "Dusty Boxcar Wall"* - B-side from the original "Pass You By" single. "One Monkey"* - Recorded live in Galway, Ireland on 08/16/03. "Ride Ride"* - Written by Anne Briggs. Recorded for the 2002 film The Good Girl. "One Hundred Years From Now" - From the Lloyd Green album Revisited. "Summer Evening" - From Going Driftless, an artist's tribute to Greg Brown. "Fifty Miles of Elbow Room" - From the James Alan Shelton album Songs For Greta. "Beulah Land" - From Avalon Blues, a tribute to the music of Mississippi John Hurt. "Wind & Rain" - From the Songcatcher motion picture soundtrack. *Only available on gillianwelch.com
So, to get this song, I have to buy her digital only collection, which is fine. I love Gillian Welch, and there is a lot of good stuff here. So I buy it, and download it, and play it.. and I pretty much haven't stopped playing it since then! o.0
It's the most basic three chord song ever. Simple little finger picking run. Four verses and a chorus that repeats throughout.
I can't stop listening to it. o.0
You can listen for yourself here, but be warned, I suspect there is some kind of top secret inaudible track that causes severe addiction :p Please buy it if you plan to add it to your own collection!
Guitar Notes: Tuning = Standard -- Chords: B (2444xx), E (4546xx), F# (22344x)

Amon Amarth - Cry Of The Black Birds "With Oden On Our Side (2006)"
Raise your swords up high See the black birds fly Let them hear your rage Show no fear
Attack!
Charge your horses across the fields Together we ride into destiny Have no fear of death when it's your time Oden will bring us home when we die
The ground trembles under us as we make our thunder charge The pounding hooves strikes blinding fear into their hearts Our helmets shine in the sun as we near their wall of shields Some of them turn and run when they hear our frenzied screams
Draw your swords to strike Hear the black birds cry Let them feel your hate Show no fear
Charge your horses across the fields Together we ride into destiny Have no fear of death when it's your time Oden will bring us home when we die
The enemies are in disarray ride them down as they run Send them to their violent graves, don't spare anyone Dead and wounded lie all around see the pain in their eyes Over the field an eerie sound, as we hear the raven's cry
