I've been sick off and on since January...moderate to severe pain down my right side and across my stomach, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, which would last for a few days to a week or more, then I'd be back to normal for several weeks before it all started up again. I've seen my doctor 4 times about it. He changed my stomach meds and sent me to a gastro-enterologist who found ulcers, doubled my stomach meds and had me come back in September for another endoscopy, at which time he prescribed yet another stomach med and set up a return visit for yet another endoscopy. October and November I was back to normal, except for a nasty cold and conjunctivitis in both eyes.
Fast forward to last Monday...
I woke up with the pain in my side. Tuesday it was worse, Wednesday the same, Thursday was very bad...loss of appetite, and late afternoon Thursday the nausea and vomiting again. From Friday morning until 3AM Saturday, then from 3PM Saturday until 2:30AM Sunday I couldn't keep anything down. When I got up Sunday morning I called the hospital's advice number. The nurse set up a phone appointment with a doctor. After talking to me the doctor said she needed to exam me so she had me come in at 10:50. After the examination she was thinking appendicitis so she sent me to the lab for blood and urine tests and to radiology for a CT scan. I had to go back to the clinic to wait for another doctor to read the results. It was after 5PM before all the test results came in...after 6 hours at the clinic the good news is it's not appendicitis...bad news is it's pancreatitis and gall stones. Tomorrow I go for more lab tests and a follow-up with my doctor.
I've been on a clear liquid diet for two days, will probably have to be on it another day or two before I can start eating soft foods...
This really sucks!!
