For whichever major political party you oppose, would you prefer that it nominate:
a candidate closer to the center and harder to beat 60%  60%  [ 6 ]
a candidate further toward the fringe and easier to beat 40%  40%  [ 4 ]
Total votes : 10

In other words:

If you're a conservative, would you prefer that the Dems nominate a far-left clown that the Reps will likely beat, or a more center-left candidate that will be a tougher election opponent?

I would prefer that either party nominate a candidate who's views are close to my own. It's kinda presumptuous to think that everyone votes based on party.

If you don't vote for a party, your vote is wasted. You are allowed to be blue, or red.

I would prefer to have two very evenly matched centrist candidates that actually give me a choice in the election. In the two presidential elections I've been of age to vote in, I've voted for 2 different parties. And I'm not sure who I'll vote for this time around.

I'd prefer to break up the two-party death grip on American politics. It'll never happen...

As it stands, I expect to vote against whomever appears to be intent upon causing the most damage to freedom.

In this light, a centrist candidate may often be the preference.

I prefer federal power being returned to antebellum levels (i.e., nearly nonexistent by comparison), and the states should take on more responsibility. This would never happen though without Ron Paul.

I would prefer that no one be far-leaning on either side, and that every candidate discussed each topic based on its own merits and not party outlook

I would vote for the right democrat over the wrong republican sure. I still can't figure out how the best person the Dems could find in 2004 (when I was desperate for a Bush alternative) was John Kerry. Alternatively it's no miracle to me that the Obama we knew in 2008 (who seemed more Centrist then Hilary at the time) beat John McCain. If Obama had shown a modicum of support for life and family, he would have likely gotten my vote too.

In other races I've votes for third party, independent candidates, and a couple of Dems in addition to Republicans.

I just don't vote. Democracy is overrated.

Seems like this election cycle I'm just voting for the rapist with the smallest wang.

If you asked me this question before the last presidential election, I would have said give me the fringe candidate. But there's only one problem with that. Sometimes the fringe candidate wins.

I'll take the more moderate opponent candidate, thank you.
