Correct #6 to be "After researching Kirra's work schedule, show up claiming to have chest pains"

They expect what they see on TV and/or porn.

You're not supposed to have a nice time at the ER.

Still, sometimes it's bad. The last time I went in to the ER was for a throat injury. Swallowing/talking/moving my neck was excruciating and I was having mild difficulty breathing. I was concerned that swelling or something could further reduce my breathing abilities and I could get in trouble quickly, so I went in.

1) I checked in and answered all their questions, and explained that it was very painful for me to talk. 5 other people, at various times, with my chart, asked me the same god damned questions.

2) I took me 3.5 hours to be seen, and then all they did was perform a scan and stick me in another waiting room.

3) At 5.5 hours, I decided I wasn't going to die immediately, and left. I told the receptionist to send the results of the scan to my primary care doctor. She agreed.

4) No results were sent. They now refuse to release the results, yet still want to be paid for them. Of course, I'm not paying.

I don't have a problem with long wait times. Obviously, I didn't die, so others may very well have been more important. Still, the experience SUCKED hard. I did not file any complaints, nor are they warranted, really. The only things that pissed me off were the questions and the billing for services not rendered.

Yikes, DE. Didn't realize they weren't explaining anything if asked. I don't think I'd be wanting to be a patient there either. That hospital may wind up getting crap for payment if they keep doing things that way.

Kirra, that Christmas party sounds like fun!

If there was no real medical reason to keep his drip running, they could have given him a hep or saline lock and DQ the running drip while maintaining an IV access.

If all else fails, and he knew he wasn't getting any regular meds (pain, or otherwise) he could have had an "accident" and pulled it out  Tell them he tripped going to the bathroom, or snagged it on the doorknob.

If I'd had to spend another 48 hours there, it wouldn't have been me having the accident. The ER wasn't bad; I expect the ER to be... an ER. It was the regular hospital ward that sucked goat balls.

Kirra probably wears regular old scrubs but.. I think scrubs are sexier than any porno nurse outfit ever invented. There's a lot to be said for looking like a normal person and having a brain.

My manager posted Press Ganey scores for our ER...99% for past 4 months! That's really good :).

Coincidental that it's been about that time I have been working there? ;). I think not!

What's a Press Ganey score? Like an approval rating?

edit: 99% of patients think Kirra is awesome? I could see that happening.

This might actually kind of explain it. The complaints are silly and pedantic because there's nothing else for people to complain about.

You & Fyr would have made an awesome combination to work on a blog together. Or just a running thread.
