Those images did nothing to raise my hopes for this film.

That image of Bane is horrible. While I do not hate the character as Khross does, that picture looks like he should be ridding with the gang in Mad Max. :derp:

His mask looks like it was purchased at a Predator (the alien) S&M Erotica store.

Bane will break Batman if he forgets the safe word.

Uuughhhh.... They are literally killing the franchise on purpose I guess. I'm ok with that I think.

They aren't killing the franchise... This is the best way for Nolan to go out. He's going to have Bane break The Bat and open the door for a new director/hero.

I won't go see it, I'll wait for it to come out on free-to-watch TV. That'll be a first, but I have very little desire to see a super-hero type movie series finale where the super-hero is taken out like I've heard happens to Batman by Bane.

Considering there's no way to level the playing field for Bane in Nolan-verse, it won't work unless Nolan has some sort of script-genius that makes Joss Whedon look like the guy who writes Sean Hannity's lead-ins.

Initial leaked script for fourth Batman movie in the Nolanverse.

Batman IV: Rockin' Robin

By Craig Whedon

EXT. GOTHAM CITY - DAY

BATMAN lies crumpled on the ground in a pool of his own blood. BANE stands above him roaring triumphantly.

BANE
Gotham, bow down before me, the mighty Bane! Yo soy your king and ruler now and forever!

BANE laughs evilly.

A large crowd of onlookers cower in fear and respect. Some of them physically get down and begin worshipping BANE as their new god.

BANE (CONT'D)
That's right, you pitiful pendejos! Swear allegiance to me and I will spare your miserable lives until I no longer have use for you!

Suddenly, an ear-piercing sonic boom rips through GOTHAM CITY. The crowd, including BANE, look around in astonishment. One of the members of the crowd looks skyward, and soon everyone's gaze does the same.

A blazing streak of light tears through the sky and heads downward like a comet. It appears to be headed directly toward the area where BANE and the corpse of BATMAN now occupy.

Slamming into the street only meters away from BANE (the force of which kills several members of the crowd) a lone figure in a dark grayish-blue suit and cape without any underwear or belt rises from a kneeling position.

BANE
?Que es? A Chippendale audition?!

SUPERMAN looks around and sees the bodies from his collateral damage. He shrugs sheepishly and then focuses his eyes on BANE.

BANE
So you have come to face me, the bringer of los muertos?! I accept your challenge! I will crush you! I will destroy you! I will....

SUPERMAN punches BANE. A punch with so much force, that it rips the very atoms of BANE's body apart. A punch with such colossal power, that BANE's very existence is nullified. BANE ceases to be.

SUPERMAN winks at the crowd, and then takes off into the air with blazing speed. The pressure waves created from the take-off kill a couple more onlookers.

A young man dressed in yellow and red glides down from a nearby rooftop.

ROBIN
Hi everybody!

It's a script by that Whedon guy so it's gotta be good.

From the trailer and what I know of Bane, he seems perfectly viable as a villain, and it seems like he'll be a great one at that. I'm also kind of surprised to hear Hathaway talk to Bruce like that, I figured Cat Woman would be a little more... neutral? Seems like she's on Bane's side, the way she was talking.

I continue to be excited for the movie and wait for my opportunity to point and laugh at Doom.

I think she's taking an Occupy Wall Street-esque tack, rather than the straightforward cat burglar character as normal.

I really don't understand the branding decisions with this movie.

"The Dark Knight Rises" pairs with the tagline "The Legend Ends" how?

Spoiler:
My current theory is that they're going to kill Bruce Wayne, allowing a new character to take on the mantle of the Batman, completing their overarching idea that the symbol is more powerful than the man. (Doesn't help that the film also includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting top billing on imdb playing a new character "John Blake - A hard-nosed young Gotham beat cop") The advertising is definitely following this thread as well.

I went ahead and spoilered this, because even though it's my theory I feel like it's very likely, and I don't want to make connections for people that haven't made them.

I'm still not liking that mask. I'd almost prefer an actual luchador mask at this point (on a cold, calm, and calculating villain). It would seem less ridiculous.

But, we'll see how I feel in the theater. I felt the same way about the Batmobile before I saw it in the theater, and then it won me over fast.

Check out the reflection on that silver platter.

If you don't feel like downloading an HD version,
Spoiler:
it's Bruce

Spoiler:
With him walking on the cane, I feel like he's older in that shot and it reminds me of Batman Beyond. Paving the way for a Nolan directed Batman Beyond trilogy. He said he wasn't doing Batman anymore. Nothing about Batman Beyond.

You still can't make Bane work in the Nolan-verse. Hell, Bane barely works in the actual comic book universe. Like I said, there's no way to level to the playing field. Part of what makes Bane a pretty decent villain: he knows he can't beat the Bat. He knows with every fiber of his being, he cannot take the Bat one-on-one in a fair fight. Bane needs the Joker, the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, the Madhatter, the Scarecrow, Scarface, Two Face, Calendar Man, the Black Mask, and Carmine Falcone; he needs them to beat the Bat ...

For all the flaws of the Knightquest bullshit, Knightfall was pretty good. And Bane needs all those people ...

Ah I thought you meant Bane was too overpowered a villain, which is why I dug up that script from Craig Whedon.

But really.... can't the same be said for any Bat villain? I mean, once you've established that your main, mortal character can out-think a god then you've set the bar pretty damn high. I think Batman's only worthy enemy is time itself.
