Hi all,

I'm posting it hear as it is SWTOR gaming specific. I'm looking for a good mouse (I prefer a wired mouse) with good programmable buttons. I would like to have, at least, two easily accessible thumb buttons. One I will program as the focus target key i.e. when I hold that thumb button down and activate a heal or some other ability it will preform that ability on my focus without switching targets. The other I want to program with the ctrl or alt key so that I can use it in conjunction with a second bar or the companion bar. More buttons would be great as long as they are easily accessible and easy to differentiate.

I am using a belkin n52te  with my left hand in lieu of the keyboard hence my desire for a mouse with more buttons.

Logitech MX518 - Great mouse period. Two thumb buttons, plus 3 on top. Scroll wheel button and one above and below the wheel. Works great. Also the G400 which is the next gen of the 518:

Both are fully programmable.

My G500 served me well for several years.

These days, I'm using a R.A.T. 7, which I like the feel of, and a Logitech G9, which I wish they would've supported better with additional housings. I LOVE the G9 scroll wheel. My beef with the RAT is that it feels like it ought to have at least another button or two. Apparently, a new version's coming out to remedy that.

I was wary, as I've had bad experiences with Mad Catz console peripherals in the past. But I decided to give it a shot considering the price point was high enough that they should be able to bang some quality into it, and the knowledge that Mad Catz ghost-manufactures Rock Band peripherals, which have held up pretty solidly in my experience.

It hasn't shown any signs of wear in the first 9 months or so, aside from the usual scuffs on the teflon pads.

I want a jumbo size one, though. I can't crank the part that supports the heel of my hand out far enough or high enough, still. I would have a 6 or 7 inch long mouse, if I had my way, though, so I realize and acknowledge that I'm waaay far out on the bell curve for preferences there, and so it's not a fault of the design, per se. =P

I picked up the cyborg rat 7 as it seemed to be what I was looking for in a mouse. Thanks all for the recommendations. I admit to a bit of hesitancy for the reasons Kaffis mentioned but am taking the risk. There is also a white version which is sold, among other online stores, on the apple website.

FYI, cyborg is advertising a new version called the mmo 7 but it is not for sale yet. It has a few more buttons and some have been rearranged to take into account what they determine to be mmo needs. If I really like the rat 7 I will get the mmo 7 as a birthday gift to myself whenever it goes on sale. ;)

I think the mmo 7 was what Kaffis was referencing as the new version.

Yup, that's what I was talking about. Replacing the sniper button (which annoys me, as, while it's programmable, the mouse only reports as a 5 button mouse, so you can't make it mouse button 6, you have to have it duplicate a keyboard key, which meta-annoys me) with a joystick hat-style nub looks pretty sweet.

The Rats look very intriguing but can't seem to find one that is wireless, which disqualifies it from consideration for me.
