now pronounce you husband and what?!

In another sign that the world is about to collapse, multiple blogs are reporting that a fan of the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus (you know, the really creepy one) liked his virtual lady so much that he decided to marry her. For real.

Apparently, a Japanese gamer known as 'Sal9000' was officially wed to Nene Anegasaki, one of the game's three virtual girlfriends, in what must have been the weirdest ceremony in the history of ceremonies. We can only assume that Ms. Pac-Man was the maid of honor.

While the two aren't planning a honeymoon -- after all, one of them is a VIDEO GAME -- they did hold a small 'reception' in Japan for friends, family and the media, indicating that this is most likely little more than the looniest video game publicity stunt we've seen in some time. Check out this video recap by Boing Boing, complete with footage of the happy, er, couple:

I just hope they signed a pre-nup...

You've been to BlizzCon, you've witnessed the thundering nerd herds. Think of the bottom (on a socially adaptable scale) 20 percent of the herds, then see if you really have to ask that question.

Without a doubt some of the brightest, kindest, overall nicest guys in the world - with no clue as to how to get along with other people over the long run.

To tell you the truth, if those guys spruced up a little, shaved and showered once in a while they'd be doing fine.

I have never understood the lack of personal hygene on guys... >.< Nor can I excuse or stand it.

still the logical murder needed to marry an online char places the person outside of the bright category.

"Man and Avatar," obviously! With the movie coming out, it's a natural.

Having a beard does not mean you care nothing of hygiene. Your manliness is directly proportionate to how big your beard is. And I'm fairly sure I have the biggest beard on this forum meaning I am the manliest.

When I saw the link had "videogames" in the title, I wasn't shocked at all to see it was over a Japanese game of that sort.

I guess it's better than marrying your horse (which Jerry Springer interviewed a man who had done/wanted just that).

If I could make Samus Aran real, I'd probably want to marry her. Then again, there's a lot of video game characters that if I could make real, I would totally marry them. This is nothing like that, though.
