No natural disasters.
Surviving all the deadly animals, makes other countries think you’re badass.
Water sports… (surfing, canoeing, fishing, swimming, etc etc etc.)
Beautiful white sand beaches that stretch for miles on end, and only a short drive away.
It usually takes a while for any diseases to get to us.
No boarder security issue, surrounded by sea = we see you coming (most of the time)
Close to mum’s cooking

1. 4 Seasons
2. Gorgeous fall colors
3. Lots of lakes
3. Doesn't get oppressively hot in the summer.

Michigan has its benefits :)

One of those seasons is pure suck. People here don't know how to drive in the snow. The fall is nice...right up until everything is dead and brown, laying in your yard, from your neighbors trees. Michigan sucks.

I know how to drive in snow....slowly...and put the clutch in when you start to slide..

It's the bone heads with the trucks that think they can crawl up your *** when you are driving with weather conditions that make it dangerous.

I'm sorry, I just get bitter sometimes about it. It is the winter, it does it to me every time.

Sorry, I love winter! Loved it when I lived in it, think I would love it still now. It's one of the things that I don't like about where I live, except that I can usually get to snow during the winter within 2 hours or so.

I used to hate LA, especially when I first got here. Mainly because it wasn't New York. Needed a car (although I lived without one for years), no real center or downtown ... But I dig LA now. Easy access out of the city if you do it right. I can be at a campground within 2 hours, usually. Either on the beach, or mountains.

Vibrancy, I guess, that's the word I would use to describe LA. I love that, and how much there is to see and do here. Or stumble upon - running an errand the other day, I had to go around the block to get back on the freeway. Ran across the George Barris car shop - with an original Batmobile and Knight Rider car inside. It was pretty much a museum.

Anyway, the worst part of LA is the weather. Always freakin' perfect. :D

Being stationed in Panama for two years wrecked me. If I never saw snow again I would be happy.

It's very tranquil, here.

Everyone knows me, and I know them. It's home. It's safe.

Seasons, which means excuses to miss work and school.

Miles and miles of open country, where I can get on the bike and just.. drift, without worrying, without getting tangled in traffic.

1. 4 distinct seasons make you appreciate what each has to offer
2. All the benefits of a large urban city but still has a small town feel
3. A very nice blend of conservatism and liberalism.
4. Lots to do outside any time of year.
5. Midwestern values
6. Clean

I'm with Raell. One of those seasons has only misery to offer.

Okay, okay, let's be positive...

I like winter because it makes me appreciate my tropical vacations much more.

As for the rest, this is a pretty good place to live. (1) all the ammenities I want, (2)natural wonder on all sides, (3) with real civilization within only an hour or two travelling time, (4) an economy that isn't falling to **** and a government that isn't broke, (5) affordable, accessible quality healthcare, and (6) about six months of nice weather out of every year.
