Well, that's the closest I've come to doing a literal spit take in a while.

Let me guess: got nostalgic over the holidays and saw my update on the old guildportal site?

Not a whole lot, I guess. I'm about to go back to school next week after a little more than a decade. So I guess there's that. What have you been up to?

Nah, i Googled myself and saw some posts about the old days. :D

Been bouncing around rpgs trying to recapture EQ classic over the years, but nothing compares.

Talked to Soluna the original leader of Clan Silver Wolf a few years ago and we chatted about the old days. Haven't been able to find Valirias or Ekimen anywhere though.

Recently went looking for a rpg and started playing Eternal Eden but its one of those odd Korean ones.

Yeah, I ran into once in EQ2, I think. I didn't play it very long, though. I had an even briefer stint with FFXI, and a few stretches of A Tale in the Desert. More recently, I played WoW for about a year.

I can enjoy them for what they are, but it's never really the same the second time around. Partly it's that MMOs aren't novel anymore. When I started EQ, it was a real mind job just knowing that I was playing a game on a server with hundreds of other players, and that this was even technically possible. Now, I think nothing of it. Partly it's that MMOs aren't their own little niche universe anymore, but part of the larger mainstream culture. But in no small smart I've decided that it also has a lot to do with the fact that I'm just not 20 anymore :p

I might take another shot at some other MMO eventually, but right now probably wouldn't be the wisest time. "GPA wrecker", and all that.

I actually ran into Soluna in-game not long before I dropped out of EQ for good. Or rather, she ran into me. At first, I didn't even realize who she was -- I thought she was just a new guild recruit introducing herself. It took me a few minutes for the name to click, and to realize that her tags said "Clan", not "Council". I think that was the first time we had ever actually met. That was a little before my time (by which I mean a couple months :p). So was Ekimen, for that matter.

Valirias actually materialized briefly about two years ago, made one post on the Glade 3.0 board, and then was never heard from again. Other than that, I haven't had much contact from anyone else. There was a ping from Raydog on the old Guildportal site 3 or 4 years ago, but I didn't see it until about 6 or 8 months after he posted it. And I saw a post by Frederic on the old FV boards a couple years ago, but the timing issues were similar. I can't remember for sure if you would have known Frederic. I'm wanting to say he was in the old Clan, but my memory never has been very good.

Edit:

As a matter of fact, yes. I haven't for a few weeks, since I just got a new laptop and having been using the opportunity to catch up on some games (namely DXHR and Portal 2) that were ... problematic to run on my desktop for various reasons (short version, Linux + on-board ATI = fail). Actually, there's even a Glade minecraft server. Uh, that said...I haven't actually checked in on the server for a few weeks, and I'm not sure that Crim or Mook have either. There's a fairly likely chance that left to its own devices, the minecraft server process has memory leaked itself to death yet again because: Notch.

Ive been having a blast on it with these guys http://www.teh3l3m3nts.com/ version 1.1 dropped today so we have to play on 1.0 for a bit till they update the server though, until bukkit updates.

They have a 3 day waiting period before you can be a member and travel to the member world which works well to weed out griefers. Currently im building Castle Estel survival server style. Lemme know if you wanna meet up.

Other then that I'm playing Skyrim, eternal Eden and the occasional Portal 2 custom map.

I've been thinking of playing that star wars one, but it looks kinda clunky.

Yeah, sorry; I just started classes, so I've been a little preoccupied.

That's quite a structure. I haven't done anything that elaborate in any of our worlds. What genre of server is it?

Also, we have a few people who started playing SWTOR, so if you want to know their impressions so far, there's probably a thread for it in the gaming forum an entire subforum dedicated to it.

Edit: Hurf.

It is a survival server with multiple worlds. They have even made a new quest world, with the rules that we all work together not taking anything to or from the world to work together to eventually beat the ender dragon. Then the world is reset for another round. I'm enjoying it alot so far. I've recently started working on the central wizard tower, with portal windows which has been challenging. I am thinking of linking it with a location in the nether and making a counter castle in nether to match it.

They are mod light, you are able to set 3 homes and teleport to each of the worlds, along with the ability to lock chests. They are quite quick and swift with dealing with griefers which is nice.

I spoke with someone i work with recently and he mentioned SW looks alot like a wow clone with its cartoonyness. I'll look up the threads you mentioned.
