I'm heading off, without net access for the next 3 days. So I'm wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and here's to lots of friends, family, food and a good nap tomorrow.

And *shake fist in your general direction* for getting a long long weekend and lots of yummy food while I slave away at my desk.

Immigrate.

You'll find there are things about Australia that you will miss though.

Hehe which is why I'm totally not immigrating =P

Plus I don't really like turkey that much, I prefer lamb =P

Funny thing you mentioned immigration though, I got offered a job over there like a couple of weeks ago. Turned it down cause of the house thingy.

Happy T-Day. I'll have a mellow restaurant lunch with the family and mom, then dessert at a friend's house. Back to work on Friday.

No OT? On a federal holiday?

Is this a Muppet goes wild, assassinates his employers for violating his civil rights, Film at Eleven type situation?

hehe Michael,

Not all of us work for government. My employer has teams of people working 24x7 in 8 hour shifts to sit and monitor equipment over the black friday shopping weekend. We have to do this leading up to Christmas and just after New Years as well..

This is necessary when you do 80% of your annual business during the annual shopping holidays.

It sucks though.

Our state has laws about over time, and lunch breaks, etc... the problem is, it's also an at-will employment state, and in a bad economy. As soon as someone complains they just dismiss them without cause (in theory.. ive never known it to happen because to my knowledge no-one has ever pushed the issue).

And Happy Thanksgiving everyone. =)

Look at the bright side, there's lots of comfort food to gobble up when you get home!

I hope you all had, and enjoyed, the opportunity to gather with friends and family, and break bread with them. I also hope that you all have things you were esspecially thankful for this year.
