Just an aside - there are plenty of Republicans in this state, outside of places like LA and San Francisco. Try San Diego, for starters, or the hinterland. Or, Orange County.

And, in any case, there are just enough Republicans to make gaining a supermajority (2/3 majority, necessary for passing a budget) difficult. So, we get bad budgets, and bad horse-trading to get one passed when they finally come to some kind of agreement.

But, the Duvall situation was a classic, I have to admit. "I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words."
