Only thing I can find is that the Hobbit filming is going to be delayed. But it doesn't sound like that is Jackson's fault, but more related to MGM financial issues.

I heard he cast Kanye West to play Bilbo and all dialogue will now have a hip-hop backdrop. Yo.

Something to do with The Lovely Bones? Or the Hobbit delay?

That would be Peter Jackson's visual effects and modeling company in New Zealand. Their merchandising arm has created a grave offense.

1. Those have been out for months
2. What do you have against steampunk?

If I could afford it, I'd pick up one of these for the mantle in a heartbeat.

I love Steampunk. I oppose the mainstreamification thereof.

Shouldn't it be mainSTEAMification?

I guess I don't really see it being mainstreamed. You just happen to have a bunch of talented props guys, who also apparently love steam punk making some AMAZING props.

I'd have to say that Girl Genius is more mainstream than those props are.

Did it really require 16 posts to finally draw out what the rant is about?

Aizle, Khross is referring to this as one indicator in a much larger trend.

I haven't really noticed anything steampunk becoming particularly "mainstream", lately.

???

Want.

And hell, I welcome more steampunk exposure. Maybe we'll eventually be able to get some non-crappy steampunk movies and video games out of the deal (I'm looking at you, Wild Wild West and Damnation, respectively). Nostalgia and Arcanum are about the only decent games so far.

Steampunk + art deco = amazingly awesome heavenly yum.

Arcanum makes up for all of the crappy games in the genre.

Trust me, it's not mainstream by any account. I wouldn't even know about this if you weren't such a huge nerd. :D
