There's no way in hell he should have gone for it on that 4th down. Faulk bobbled it, and didn't have possession till he was *behind* the first down marker. Even so, the spot could have been challenged if they didn't blow *two* timeouts in 3 plays.

Bad play calling right there.

I definitely blame Belichick, but I disagree in part. There was a phantom pass interference penalty on the Colts scoring drive prior to that. There was no way that was interference. He barely touched the receiver, let alone commit pass interference. In addition, Faulk had possession of the ball right at the marker. It would have been close and he may have been slightly short. The spot they gave him was horrid.

Phantom PI? He jumped back into the receiver... I've seen less called.

The Faulk spot was perhaps a bit short, but as much as I ***** about officiating, (2005 Steelerbowl comes to mind... the refs had terrible towels instead of flags), one adage comes to mind "Never put yourself in a position to where the refs can lose the game for you."

He shouldn't have gone for it on 4th.

I think you need to look at the PI again then. The receiver jumped into him. They were both going for the ball. Ridiculous call. The NFL is becoming has become a league of wusses.

On the second part, I agree. Even if it wasn't a mistake to go for it on 4th down, not having a timeout with a challenge remaining was equally as boneheaded on Belichick's part. If that had been reviewed, it would have been extremely close to a first down.

Like I said, I don't blame the refs primarily. Most of my blame is for Belichick, especially after he's trying to justify it days later.

I can't find video of the PI call. From what I do remember, the defender put his shoulder into the receiver before they leaped for the ball. Marginal at best.

At least it wasn't a BS holding penalty far away from where the play happened that really had no impact on the actual play. H9 holding penalties. Should be 5 yards max.

What's with Favre? 3 interceptions all season? That's his lowest total ever..., and while he may not be setting records for total passing yards, he's getting the job done. But he looks almost...conservative. That's not Favre. Some alien has replaced him or something.

His second-lowest (total 13, done thrice, actually) was the year he won the Super Bowl with the Pack, 1996. Other Packers fans and I always laughed that it was Holmgren who sat him down and somehow got through his thick skull not to make stupid throws. For all his other faults, maybe Childress has been able to do the same thing.

If he keeps his picks down and doesn't try to do too much (and if he has an O-line that gives him time to see what's happening, rather than having to hurry his throws), he can be great. It was just frustrating to watch him try to do it all, too many times.

I've been watching him just about every week now. I hate to admit I am starting to become a fan. I just can't believe he is still playing at this level. Just boggles the mind.

I've become a fan of his over the last 5 years. I'm one of the few that seem to continue to support his waffling on whether or not to retire.

Why walk away when you can perform at such an incredible level? I'd certainly be happy if he was on the Eagles instead of the Vikings.

I'd prefer to just see the Saints make it. Dealing with Manning's smugness after a perfect regular season will be unbearable.

Then if they win the big game...

I want to see the Colts and the Saints undefeated in the SB.

And really, I think it could happen. Both of their remaining schedules for the rest of the regular season aren't that difficult.

And then it wouldn't matter which of them choked in the big game... we'd have a 19-0 team and wouldn't have to deal with the 1972 dolphins and their stupidass champagne again :p

Yes, but seeing Manning lose a perfect season to the Ain'ts would be priceless. Especially if they went something like 8-8 next season.

Either team really. Brees and Co. have just been phenominal this year. They are truly fun to watch. So are the Colts, but with them, you *know* they're gonna win... you just wanna see *how* they do it.
