The Glade 4.0

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but I know we have lots of good tech people here so I figured maybe there's someone with some experience in this area.

I have a couple long videos (around an hour each) that each contain dozens of 15-30 second clips that I'd like to stream online. I currently have it set up with a Flash video player where I can give it the video filename and the timestamps that I want to access and it will serve up a short clip.

However, now I'm trying to get the same thing working for the iPad, which doesn't support Flash of course. Is there any technology out there that can let me do the same thing with HTML5? I really don't want to chop up these videos into thousands of clips. I figure there's got to be a better way, but I'm having a hard time researching the issue. It'd be nice if someone could either point me in the right direction or confirm that it's not possible so I can get to work chopping up a million video clips.

Live streaming to iOS is a bugbear (we just did the exact same thing). I struggled with it for nearly a year before finally figuring out something that worked for TCN. There are some professional solutions that can do it (Kit Digital, Kulabyte), but they're majorly expensive and not turnkey. VOD to for iOS isn't a problem, but that live stream is a *****.

If you're interested in professional solutions, I've got some contacts I can give you. Consumer-wise, I dunno offhand.

Well, I don't actually need to do live streams. I just need to stream only a small portion of a large video (for example, from timestamp 15:45-16:00 in a 1 hour long video). Unless you're talking about live streaming as in, having the server encode and stream the video clip live when requested.

You probably want something like Video.js, which appears to be able to jump to certain time stamps with some fiddling.
