That's just it - people aren't putting too much focus on the ending. This is the last game. The ending matters. For ****'s sake, we're talking about a game that wrote in little things like that criminal you did a job for in ME1 coming back as a social worker on Omega, or Wrex being alive and completely replacing the Krogan chief. A little variance in the ending that goes beyond which companion I boned this go-around isn't too much to ask.

This isn't unrealistic expectations. It's simply expecting Bioware to deliver the bill of goods that they've been advertising for what, six years? Hell, I'd be satisfied with the amount of variance in the ME2 endings. You had everyone dies but Joker to everyone lives, and all points in between.

Finished it. I loved the ending I got. But I'm not really sure if I got the *best* ending. I had just under 7k, but since I was only 50%, I had under 4k modified. So I don't know if I could have gotten a better ending or not. Going to have to grind some multiplayer and play through again to make sure I have as much readiness as I possibly can to see if anything changes.

I picked the synthesis ending, in case anyone was wondering. It's the ending where Shepard literally becomes Jesus.


EDIT:

Also, the bromance scene with Garrus was probably one of my favorite parts of the game. Of any game ever, actually.

Shepard can live in the "Control" and "Destroy" endings. You have to have 4k EMS to live in "Destroy" or 5k EMS to live in "Control." He won't be with his crew, but at least in "Control" there is some Mass Relay framework left, so it's entirely possible he will meet up with his crew again at some point.

Just finished. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get my "readiness rating" above 50%, so I think the ending I got was pretty shitty.

Renegade Shep destroys the **** galaxy. Good job. Blew up the thing, the mass relays, and everything. Earth got roasted, my entire team died (cause, y'know... Earth)... Just sickened by it. Worst freaking ending I've ever played.

Multiplayer affects your single player readiness rating. It's not required to get the best ending, but to get the best ending without it, you need to do pretty much everything.

No, because it still isn't necessary. Sorry. They've said since they announced multiplayer that it would affect your single player game. What exactly did you expect?

It's not a requirement, it's a supplement. It's there for people that maybe don't want to do 100% of the game's sidequests. Don't want to do either? Sorry, you don't get the best ending. Them's the breaks.

Did most of the sidequests available, all of the crew quests, and since I despise MP, I get a shitty ending. Raltar said like 4k was needed. Well, I had more than that fo sho... but since I have to MP to have more than half of that... Yeah.

Sounds fair to me.

Effective rating has to be over 5,000 as far as I know. First post has a link with the 16 different ending criteria. It takes like 4 hours of MP total to achieve. Sorry man, but the MP is fun and has story relevance, you should try it.

For you maybe MP is fun. For me? Not so much. I *hate* multiplayer games. That's why I play RPGs... cause.. y'know, you don't need to play with other people.

Looks like 2650 is about the lowest non-absolutely-shitty ending.

You do have to do Multiplayer to get it. The max without multiplayer is +50% and the most you can get in game is like 7800-7900, so you can't even get a 4k ending without it let alone the 5k endings.

I love multiplayer. Been going on and off today. Good times. Reaper forces are way harder than Geth and Cerberus, though. **** brutes.

We just had a round, that was completely insane. Wave 11 against the Reapers on a horrible map, where there was no cover at the extraction zone. A Banshee, a Brute, and a Rachni rocket guy (forget the name) all hit us at the same time, from 2 different sides. We didn't stand a chance.

I swear, the AI on this game is worse than the 'Director' on L4D multiplayer. It just decides that sometimes, you deserve to be raped.

Some Fridge Logic: (Regarding the Ending)

According to the Arrival DLC, a Mass Relay blowing up wipes that system the **** out right? I mean, that was the big thing in that DLC. We blow up that mass relay, and it wipes out the Batarian colony/homeworld thingy.

So, does it not stand to reason that in any ending where the Mass Relays are destroyed... it actually has a *worse* outcome than letting the reapers do their thing? Any system with a Mass Relay is likely scythed clean of life now. Earth, (which got blown the **** up in the end I got anyway), Tuchanka, Thessia, The Turian, Salarian, Volus homeworlds...etc...

Also, why the hell was the Normandy in a Relay at the end? Where were they going? Shep is inside the Citadel figuring out which color of destruction he wants, and when he chooses red or blue, the Normandy is racing like hell to go *somewhere*? Last I checked, they were fighting the reapers above Earth.

In addition, your crew is all in London at the end. You talk to all of them on the way to the pillar of lightness. So... how do they get back on the Normandy so it can go like hell somewhere and get stranded who knows where forever?

Also, laying all that aside for the moment.. Your crew, being marooned *somewhere* suitable... Maybe a dozen crewmembers or so (there never were a lot of crew on the SR-2) left to die a slow death from starvation, exposure, or whatever.

Going back to the destruction of the Mass Relays. The largest fleet ever assembled, Turian, Quarian, Asari...etc. Thousands of ships are all now *stranded* in Sol space. Assuming they survive the immense destructive force of the Relay exploding and the Crucible firing.

I mean... did noone at BW even stop to think about *any* of this ****?

Yep, it's one of the most retarded endings I've ever seen, if not the single most retarded ending. And all 3 choices give you the same retarded video to boot, just a color palette swap. The game was 100% amazing right up till the very last minute, then it turned into complete and utter ****. None of it made any sense. No options for Shepard living no matter what you do in the game is dumb as ****. No DAO style epilogue cataloging all the **** you did over 3 entire games. Bioware, I am disappoint.

Guess I missed part of the Destroy the Reapers ending youtube video I watched since I was so annoyed at the 3x color palette swap and the sheer laziness and stupidity of the them all. So I went back and reloaded the last mission and saw it on my own save file. My god, you cannot skip a single line of dialogue in that part. That is incredibly obnoxious.

Anyways, It's implied that Shepard lives in that one, which is the "hardest" one to get. The entire thing is still stupid as hell though and makes little sense. Also, once again, **** not getting a proper Epilogue.
