I just wrapped up Skyrim and am looking for another sweeping open-style game to eat up the hours, it can be old or new. I already have:
Dragon Age
Dragon Age II
CoD Black Ops & MW3
BF3
BF2
Oblivion
Final Fantasy

Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas should probably top the list.

Same basic setup as Oblivion or Skyrim, but depending on which game, played in and around the remnants of Washington DC or Las Vegas.

Fallout 3 was the first game that actually gave me a sense of anxiety --wandering out the decimated US Capitol actually gave me a shiver up the spine. And quite frankly, Deathclaws are scarier than Skyrim's dragons.

I recommend Dark Souls. A word of caution: I enjoyed the challenge, but it's hella hard. I'd definitely try renting it first to see if you like it.

On the other hand, you can't go wrong with New Vegas. The different ways the game can be played are pretty numerous. In terms of bang to buck ratio, New Vegas is probably the better choice.

Dark Souls is amazing and it's not really that hard once you get the hang of it. It's mostly pattern recognition.

S'pose that's true. It's not so much hard as it is unforgiving should you screw up. Many things can and will kill you in one hit.
