Wow, that's a surprise.. especially considering how underwhelming the 1.2 patch actually is compared to all of the hype.

I do not like the ui changes...at all. Yes, I can move them around but I liked it the way it was before.

I love the UI changes. If you don't like it just set the default?

I don't like the fact that I can't play for more than 5 minutes without my system locking up. That's definitely a new feature of 1.2 I can live without...

Default is not the old UI. The way I used to have mine set up, I used two rows of buttons at the bottom, if I needed someone that wasn't on one of those, I would scroll the top row...now when you expand to a second row of buttons down at the bottom, it puts the hidden bars on either side of the screen and it won't let me scroll. So if I want to use something that I used to click to, I have to go looking for it off to the side.

I almost never watch the screen when I play, just look at the buttons the whole time, target health and my buttons, that is all I look at.

it sounds like you have 'extended bars' .. you can disable the left and right bars and go back to scrolling... They just disabled the scroll if you have all of your other bars displayed.

I pretty much do the same, but I didn't like having to switch bars, so I built a UI with all four bars across the bottom, with the companion bar in a 4x3 to the right of it, with both of the main target bars just above it..

I also reduced the scale of the entire thing to 80%.

Heck the fact that you can move windows around and have more than two windows open at a time is worth the price of admission... and the crew skill reward UI not closing everything when it pops up.. well that's just frosting =)

I'll try to remember to grab a screenshot next time I'm on.

Here is a link to the promotions for 1.2, including the free 30 days for any account with a level 50 that Doom mentioned, and a free week for all inactive accounts starting today.

Here is your chance Josificus!

Has anybody figured out what the "legacy mainhand weapon" item I got in my mail is? The descriptive text seems to suggest I should give it to an alt or something and then look around for a vendor or Coruscant. Worth doing?

I may have to pop in and check out the changes. Got burnt out a little after pushing Farkas to 50, but I'd like to see the new UI stuff. I like that it sounds like it's scaleable.

Hmm, I thought I posted this already, but i guess not..

It seems their patch to fix the patch only made things worse.

UPDATE: 10:53AM CDT

During last night's maintenance, some areas of the game were reverted to pre-Game Update 1.2 status. Some areas were 'missing' and characters that were in those areas would be unavailable. We took the live servers offline at approx 9:30AM CDT (Austin time).

Our server and deployment teams are now working to rebuild assets for the live servers, but this is unfortunately not a quick process. We currently estimate that our downtime could be up to eight hours, but that time may be extended.

We are expecting the servers to be available again at 6:00PM CDT (US: 4:00PM PDT, 7:00PM EDT. Europe: April 14th, 12:00AM BST, 1:00AM CEST. AU: 9:00AM AEST. NZ: 11:00AM NZST). We'll update you with information in this thread when we have it.

We sincerely apologize for the unexpected downtime today. We’ll update you with more details later.

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.

ouch...

You are supposed to mail this to a lower level character in your 'Legacy'. I believe there are vendors on Coruscant/Drommund Kaas that allow you to purchase a "Legacy" weapon, that is apparently not very good. I personally haven't tried to use it. Not sure who I'd give it to at this point, and the servers haven't been up/stable long enough for me to look into it.

here is a thread. There are a few others.

Servers are back up as of 3pm CDT this afternoon.

I might take the rest of the afternoon off and see if they've fixed my crashing/lock up issues.

Reading a bit more about this. They appear to work similar to PvP or Planet commendations, but are bind on legacy, so can be traded, even across faction within your legacy. Apparently there are vendors who accept them for what Bioware calles "Powerful Low Level" items (apparently the "powerful" part is subject to debate).

I have also seen some references to the fact that Fleet Commendations (the ones you get for space combat) are now good for similar bind on legacy gear from the same vendors you purchased the starship upgrades from.

I am basing all of this on forum posts, as I haven't had a chance to log in and play yet.

Hopefully soon...

Still kinda miffed I can't ride my speeder around on MY ship. I mean it's round and would be perfect for speeder races... and IT'S MY FREAKIN' SHIP!

Did the new heroic 4 man in The Blackhole with Furio the other day. It was really fun with just the two of us. I wanted to cut my arm off by the time we got done but it was so worth it.
