So atm i'm still using a program that was designed as a carPC front end program as it's what I used on my carpPC in my car, however the PC has been replaced by an android tablet and honestly the program is old, has issues with dealing with large size libraries and randomly has issues with some ID3 tags so I'd like to replace it with something new, however I haven't been able to find one that fit what I was looking for and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations.

Anyways the must have, this one is the priory over all else, browsing the library via folder structure, I hate ID3 tag album sorting, everything is so cluttered and it's hard to find what I want, at least without spending a week trying to update the ID3 tags of my entire library which i'm not about to do. Playlist support with easy editing/rearranging of playlists. I nice graphical interface that displays album are is a huge plus, really ideally I want something as close to the media player I use on my android devices, Power AMP, as I can get.

Thanks, I tried it out but the interface seemed too clunky for me, it was obviously designed for a media center PC with a remote control as the mouse interface was god awful and it seemed like it didn't work half the time, and this is for my UMPC which I use at work so I use the mouse for everything.

Have you tried Google Music? Works well, it's all stored in the cloud and it'd be common ground between your Android and Windows devices.

I used to have licensed copies of Winamp on a couple of PC's, but i've pretty much gone to the cloud for music (Google Music).

The only real downside is the data usage if you are using a not-unlimited mobile plan.

Yeah, unfortunatly cloud isn't an option due tethering my cell for internet so not unlimited data, plus since I have enough storage space on my devices I would rather just have it right there on the device itself. I actually wish I could just ditch the UMPC and use my tablet I use in my car for music as it's replacement, but there's still enough limits with mobile internet that I run into stuff I can't do or can't do well, hopefully in another year or so it will be there.

Well, I personally love the Zune interface but I was holding off on my recommendation until you gave a negative to GM.

Tried that too, no option to browse my library thru the folder structure though, just the cluttered ID3 method :/

IIRC, Google Music will, on my phone, at least, use local versions of files in my playlists.

I know because the responsiveness when first hitting play is vastly different when the first song is local (left over from pre-Google Music, when I used DoubleTwist to sync my playlist over) vs. streamed (something I've added to the playlist since moving to Google Music).

Similarly, there's a spot on my commute where coverage drops for about 10 seconds. Some days it doesn't skip there, others it does.

In album sort, click the dropdown and hit "By Folder Structure", it will show your library by folders. Used it for years.

Didn't know that, that's good to know if I start using it.



Thanks, that's more along the lines of what i'm looking for, no album art, but seems to handle larger libraries fine, does folder structures and is not an over-sized bloated program, no clue why a music player (Zune for example) takes over 100mb of space.

Pretty sure that you can designate music to play locally on google music
