Booted into Win8 to see wtf Khross was talking about.

Ctrl+T does nothing; Win+T focuses on the taskbar and cycles pinned apps with each push of T. Pushing Win+Enter opens Windows Narrator.

Holy hell ...

You two are fired.

CTRL+T opens a terminal window, which gives me a command line, which is ... *nix.

Geezus.

why is this relevant to this conversation? We are talking about Winddws Start button functionality (and the need for it).

And, yes, I had read you confirm that that's the terminal keyboard sequence for *nix; I just wanted to point out that 7's command line is also pretty awesome for Getting **** Done™...

Probably doesn't justify it's own thread, but here it is...

No DVD playback in the standard Windows 8 desktops.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology- ... 46904.html

As the article states, you can purchase a Media Center add-on that will decode DVD, but they are removing that feature from standard Windows Media Player.

I was a bit put off at first, but then I tried to remember the last time I put a DVD movie in a computer... and I couldn't.

QFT. There's plenty of free DVD playing software.
