Wolves are generally pretty timid creatures unless provoked or starving.

Quote:
When settlers began colonizing the continent, they noticed that while local wolves were more numerous than in Europe, they were less aggressive. In Canada, an Ontario newspaper offered a $100 reward for proof of an unprovoked wolf attack on a human. The money was left uncollected. Though Theodore Roosevelt considered the large timber wolves of north-western Montana and Washington equal to Northern European wolves in size and strength, he noted they were nonetheless much shyer around man.

EDIT - D'oh! Broken link of Harvey Keitel as "The Wolf" from Pulp Fiction.

Side story: I went on a backpacking trip, and because I'm retarded, I started the day at sea level, and finished the day hiking 13 miles, mostly above 11,000 feet. After spending a couple of hours flat on my face puking all over myself and thinking I was going to die (altitude sickness), I dragged my pack staggering back to the car. During this last part of the hike, several wolves were trailing me. I'm sure I looked like I was about to die. It was unnerving, to say the least.

/sigh

I do have to question the even-handed reaction.

While TRV was taunting, I wouldn't have suspended him. Even if I did, it cannot be argued that they are equal offenses.

What's with the post-action censorship?

Riov, I will thank you not to circumvent your banning by PMing me from your Baethia account. This is not PbP related, so knock it off.

I agree with the deletion of Khross's post (and mine, where I quoted him) due to the insanely high degree of impropriety.

I was asked to remove the libel from the thread; my scalpel wasn't as precise as it could have been, because I am busy at work.

Insanely high degrees of impropriety is why this is hellfire and not heckfire.

Ah, I was wondering why Khross got suspended, as I missed the deleted post.

I quit the thread when Diamondeye insisted on making up arguments and attributing them to me, then arguing against them. I didn't feel like interjecting in an argument between DE and Strawman-Aegnor.

You were the one that claimed the officer should wait until he was actually bitten. I responded to that. I realize "make a few posts and then quit the thread behind a veneer of outrage" is the in thing to do, but the fact is that no one "strawmanned" you at all.

I didn't "quit the thread in a vaneer of outrage". I just got bored with it when I realized that you had no interest in what my position was. You were only interested in how you could twist my words into something easier to argue against.

Sometimes I get in the mood to try and fight that, other times not so much.

No one twisted your words. Next time, make yourself understood more clearly.

Dash has always said that there's a rule of "don't be an ***."

Frankly, I think talking about someone's imaginary history as a sex offender crosses it. I didn't see what TheRiov posted and can't speak to that, but I agree with Arathain; I have a hard time imagining that it was anything that was up to the same level. Then again, Khross has always had special privileges; I have to give props to Mookhow for finally taking some action.

One can moderate oneself, it's not necessary to impose moderation on others, nor is it effective.

I think there's plenty of message boards out there that show that moderation is effective, and it was plenty effective here when we did have it.

if one could moderate oneself, then one could refrain from calling another a sex offender (or whatever the offending issue was). Obviously one cannot.

IMHO TheRiov was being quite the *** and in his defense, Khross responded in the same vein. Anyone else might have done the same, given the circumstances. I know I would have, especially after some of the other things that TheRiov has said in the past.

/awaits the ban stick
